THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Wonder if you caught “Thought for the Day” with Shaikh Abdal Hakim Murad, Muslim Chaplain at the University of Cambridge (Where else?) this morning. I so enjoyed his comments on how the use of martial images in politics has a long history. I guess he could also have pointed out it also has a long history in religion, not least Islam. However his treatise focused on the American “right-wing” (Natch) and “others”. Wonder who the “others” might be? Surely not the likes of THIS guy — a glorious story in left wing hypocrisy entirely ignored by the Palin-loathing BBC.

WHAT THE £3BN A YEAR BBC MISSES….

This chilling link was sent to me by a reader.

“On YouTube Gabrielle Gifford has a channel called “Gifford2″ . If you scroll down to the two people, of the channels that Gifford herself “subscribes” to, you’ll see that they number only two. One is a fellow congressman, and the other is named “Classitup10′s Channel” and is owned by non other than “Jared Lee Loughner”, the bloke who allegedly shot her.

Wonder why the MSM has missed this connection? Too busy trying to blame Palin…

WHY PALIN IS TO BLAME….

Name the problem and the BBC response is Palin is to blame (unless Thatcher got there first, of course). I’m on the BBC’s Nolan Show in the morning to discuss the Arizona murders. Any comments you would like me to make? I am appalled by the media hunt against Palin even as the dead still lay where they were so brutally murdered. ITV have been grim, and the BBC no better.

THE ARIZONA SHOOTING

Sad to report the killings by a deranged shooter in Tucson, Arizona. From my perspective, he was neither right nor left, but rather mad. The net has seen the political left take advantage of this to try and blame Sarah Palin, or Barbara Bachman, or Jan Brewer. How do YOU think the BBC is dealing with it – wonder how it will develop?

STIRRING UP THE STORMTROOPERS.

Some may winder if the pouting Victoria Derbyshire over on BBC 5 Live in danger of being perceived of inciting disorder and riots against government policy? A Biased BBC reader says of her programme the other day…

She spent the day with student protesters on the last two protests and now is asking ‘What is the best way to make your voice heard?‘ against government policy…this assumes of course that that policy is wrong or bad. She helpfully named the time and place of the next protest. The guests are all left wing radicals…one of whom has just suggested smashing things up…VD’s only question…’Isn’t that ineffective?’….no shock that violence is suggested….though she has told the guest off for saying ‘bollocks’.

Derbyshire’s name and attitude towards the Coalition government comes up time and time again in correspondence to me. Have you a view on her to share?

SOMETHING’S BEEN MAKING ME BLUE…

Well, bless my soul, but BBC stalwart David Attenborough – having moved to Sky – has attacked the BBC for becoming too big, claiming its ‘sails need to be trimmed’.

He said the corporation needed to be ‘refocused’ and had ‘strayed from the straight and narrow’. Sir David, who recently presented his first show for Sky, said it was vital that the licence fee-funded BBC represented ‘the highest aspirations of our society’.

Well, I don’t think much of this. Of course the bloated BBC is too big, and of course it has strayed away from the original intent. But sails do not need to be trimmed, as he puts it. The vessel needs sunk. Further, the “license-fee” is an anachronistic obscenity which must end now.

THOSE EVIL BANKERS! (cont)

The BBC is never happier than bashing those who succeed in generating profit. I suppose this is a consequence of the fact that they are handed £3bn a year without having to do anything other than undermine the Nation whose name it bears. Give THIS interview a listen. It’s classic anti-capitalism and the idea of balance is risible. TUC Comrade Brendan Barber leads the assault, and Garry Wilson gives the most meek and mild response one could imagine. No one (least of all me) wants to see greed and incompetence rewarded but the BBC has taken this on as a crusade (is it OK to use that word?) and bashes the Banks and “the bosses” at every opportunity.

DIVERSITY….

Busy day so my first chance to catch up with you!.

Spoke to the Mail on Sunday today re the BBC offering a lucrative contract to Racing Driver David Coulthard even as he retains a lucrative contract with Red Bull. I trust they will run the story on Sunday.

Also, was alerted to this call for diversity feedback from the BBC. It seems Amanda Rice, BBC Head of Diversity, wants to know what YOU think about how the BBC tackles this subject. Please, let her know – tomorrow is the deadline! I’ve gone through the questionaire and added my tuppence worth – some of the questions are a hoot!
