ASHAMED TO BE BRITISH?

I noticed that the “You and Yours” programme on Radio 4 at noon is running a trailer which asks “Are you ashamed to be British?” It asks if Brits deserve their bad reputation when travelling abroad. Wonder if this includes BBC journalists convicted of possessing illegal drugs? Great to see the BBC doing their best to put the great into Britain.

BRING ME SUNSHINE

. Despite all the apparent economic gloom, I am sure you will have been pleased to listen to the upbeat economic assessment provided by Hugh Pym and the gang on the Today programme this morning just before 8am. It seems everything is coming up roses and excuses were generously offered up for the Great Leader – we were even told directly that the government “could not be blamed” for several of the factors afflicting our economy. Funny thing is, during the boom years, I can’t recall the BBC informing us that growth “could not be blamed” on Prudence – can you? The BBC seems determined to make us think that the sun is going to shine again and that the dear leader will benefit from these happier times. Now back to the Olympics and the big question – Sharon Davies – can you really get enough in-depth interviews from her?

THOSE HUMANITARIAN TUNNELS

. I see that three Palestinians have died when a smuggling tunnel under the border between Gaza and Egypt collapsed. Five others who were inside the tunnel, near the Rafah crossing, are missing. The BBC asserts that the tunnels are used to bring fuel, weapons and other supplies into Gaza. Wonder will anyone at the BBC ask why Hamas need these weapons?

PUTIN POWER

. They just love him, don’t they? I refer to Vladimir Putin and the BBC. I was watching the 10 Ten O Clock news and the BBC was slobbering over the communist thug and his all powerful command of what is happening in Georgia. Then we were presented with the revelation that only the French diplomats can save the day! My god, what next – the Belgium army to act as peace-keepers? Of course what REALLY concerns me is that the curious lack of street demos from the “anti-war peace activists” who infested our streets when we toppled the butcher of Baghdad. But now Putin is using power to bully and crush..ssssshhhh, say nothing and the BBC will ask no tricky questions. Now, back to the Olympics and leave the French to sort it all out… just another rainy night in Georgia.

SWAMP FEVER.

The headline says it all “Activists start leaving eco-camp”. The story concerns the activities of militant greenies determined to stop the UK developing necessary future power provision. In this case the BBC notes that on Saturday a group of about 100 campaigners, “some carrying drums and banners” (Will the 1960’s ever really go away?) marched from the camp to the power station. One must assume that everyone in Kent approves of the actions of these lunatic fringers since the BBC seems unable to offer up any other opinions other than those of these “climate change activists.”

FOXES CALL FOR POULTRY PROTECTION RIGHTS.

I was reading this BBC article on the alleged need for a Bill of Rights for the UK. The Joint Committee on Human Rights suggest that the bill should go further than current human rights legislation. This proposed further intrusion of a rights rather than responsibility based culture is given BBC approval since the ONLY voice quoted offering dissent is that of….who else?…Universal Shami! Ms Chakrbarti is concerned that we must be careful any new Bill of Rights does not conflict with the current Human Rights Act! The ratchet factor – always pusing to the left.,…

BROWN NOT BROKEN

. Another day another positive PR spin from Al Beeb for the Great Leader. This time Mr Brown has been to the Edinburgh Book Festival and has declared that Britain is not a broken society. The BBC lovingly reports the Great Leader’s every word with the unspoken subtext that David Cameron has it wrong when he suggests to the contrary. Meanwhile on this BBC page we read of a thanksgiving service for Garry Newlove the father-of-three who was kicked to death in Warrington after confronting three drunk youths who were vandalising a car belonging to his wife Helen. Not broken, just shattered.

WHAT’S AN INVASION BETWEEN FRIENDS?

As has been pointed out, Russia has just invaded Georgia with 150 tanks rolling across the border. Sky has it as the lead story – the BBC has the Olympic opening ceremony as its lead story. World class broadcasting, eh? If you want news, best avoid the Olympic broadcaster. Clearly given the HUGE investment that the BBC has made with OUR money, viewers are going to have the Olympics shoved down their throat, like it or not, invasions or otherwise.

OLYMPIC FEVER.

Trying to escape the hype the BBC is producing for the Olympic Games is difficult, unless one turns off! But I happened to tune in to Victoria Derbyshire this morning and was amazed to hear her ask a listener who had phoned in to say that awarding the games to China was a disgrace given its’ human rights record why he had not also objected to LA getting the Games back in 1984. She clearly equates the tyrants that run China with the democratically elected US government.
