Question Time LiveBlog 2nd June 2011

Question Time comes tonight from Glyndwr University’s William Aston Hall in Wrexham. It is represented at Westminster by Ian Lucas MP (Labour) and was the birthplace of Sir Foster Cunliffe, founder of the Royal Society of British Bowmen. Really. That’s about as interesting as it gets. Oh, and the local church steeple is known as one of the Seven Wonders of Wales. Don’t laugh.

On the panel we have Former Home Secretary Alan Johnson, Labour MP for Hell West. He campaigned strongly for AV which was appropriate because he was also the second preference vote in his own marriage.

He is joined on the panel by Elfyn Llwyd, a feared combat-dwarf from Lord of the Rings and also Plaid Cymru MP for Dwyfor Meirionnydd (bless you – nasty cough, that)

On too we have journalist Julia Hartley-Brewer, former assistant editor and columnist at the Sunday Express and, stepping in for Health Secretary Andrew Lansley will be dripping wet Conservative MP Stephen Dorrell, former Health Secretary from 1995-1997. Also on the panel is journalist, author and serial quangocrat Simon Jenkins.

The LiveBlog will also stay open for the surreal This Week, with Andrew Neil and Michael Portillo. The Blue Nun Bingo is looking squeaky at the top of the leaderboard to it’s all to play for this week. TheEye just assumed but Millie Tant spotted correctly. No TH this week.

David Vance, TheEye and David Mosque will be moderating the abuse here from 10:30pm. See you later!

Question Time LiveBlog 26th May 2011

Question Time comes tonight from a location they’ve decided not to share with us (at the time of typing this) on the BBC QT website. Tripoli maybe? Some newly-vacated office-space in Abbottabad, Pakistan? UPDATE: Exeter

On the panel we have Conservative MP and novelist Louise Bagshawe, Foreign Office Minister Jeremy Browne MP, Labour MP Hilary Benn, Britain’s former Ambassador to the United States and Press Complaints Commission Chairman Sir Christopher Meyer and media lawyer Charlotte Harris.

The LiveBlog will also stay open for the surreal This Week, with Andrew Neil and Michael Portillo.

David Vance, TheEye and David Mosque will be moderating the abuse here from 10:30pm. See you later!

Question Time LiveBlog 19th May 2011

Question Time comes tonight, unbelievably, from inside HM Prison Wormwood Scrubs. Built in the 1880s by convict labour (imagine trying that today…can’t do that, it’s me uman rites, innit) – past inmates include escapee Soviet spy George Blake and the only UK Minister to have been confirmed as a Soviet spy John Stonehouse.

On the panel we have Ken Clarke, Jack Straw, token right-winger Melanie Phillips and Universal Shami Chakrabarti. To be fair, Chakrabarti hasn’t been on QT for at least a couple of weeks now so the BBC probably think we’re missing her or something.

It’s fair to assume that the first question will be about rape, so make sure you have the Shrill Feminist Whine setting turned right down on your television set.

The LiveBlog will stay open for the surreal This Week, with Andrew Neil and Michael Portillo.

David Vance, TheEye and David Mosque will be moderating the abuse here from 10:30pm. See you later!

QT and Elections LiveChat (Pt1)

Welcome to the LiveChat which is a 5th May Election Special.

We kick off with the return of Question Time; which tonight comes from the last BBC option “damn I can’t claim decent expenses from here” of London.

On the panel we have Secretary of State for Transport and Conservative dark horse Philip Hammond, Andy Burnham, Paddy Pantsdown, Yasmin Alibhai-Brown and Douglas Murray. Really? Are the same dozen people always on speed-dial?

Immediately afterwards we have the local election results and lots of idle speculation about the result of the AV referendum.

Unfortunately we won’t get David Vance‘s result until Friday morning so the champagne will have to stay on ice.

As it’s such a big night we’re going to split the Chat tonight. If you want to take part in the QuestionTime and England/Wales/NI election results then this Chat is where you want to be. If you want a Scotland twist to your evening then use the Chat window in the post below.

The Chat tonight reflects the different voting areas, and is hosted on Biased-BBC, AllSeeingEye, MaxFarquar and QT stalwart Subrosa‘s blog. Moderating will be AllSeeingEye, Subrosa, Max Farquar and David Mosque, and both chats will go on until people fade away though tiredness or wine.

QT and Elections LiveChat (Pt2)

This post has been split so that if you want to follow both LiveChats at the same time you can easily open the two posts in two different windows and put them alongside each other.

Cunning thinking, eh?

This Scottish-oriented Chat is being hosted and moderated by Subrosa although you can’t escape the grim glare of TheEye’s moderating touch here either.

Many thanks to MaxFarquar for the two excellent logos we’ve used here tonight.

5th May LiveChat for QT and Election Results

As usual on Thursday we’ll be bringing you the Question Time LiveChat session. But as it’s also Local Election results night we’re going to extend the chat to cover that as well.

So we’ll start at 10:30pm as usual and finish up whenever the last wibbling drunk can’t type any longer.

The AV Referendum count won’t be happening until the next day because they haven’t yet bought the voting machines that the utterly dishonest Electoral Reform Society claim not to be selling. But there will still be plenty of AV uninformed speculation and pointless rehashing of lies for us to pick over like the dregs of a goat curry.

As we’re covering the elections, we’ll be spreading the chat live across Biased-BBC, AllSeeingEye, MaxFarquar and a few others to be finalised. Thanks go to Max for the excellent logo designed for the night.

At some time during the night we should be celebrating our very own David Vance‘s election as a NI Assembly member so keep the champagne chilled for that moment.

See you all here on Thursday night…

Question Time LiveBlog 14th April 2011

Question Time tonight comes from that famous bastion of middle-of-the-road politics…Liverpool.

On the panel tonight we have Baron and part time vampire Michael Howard, adulterer, windmill fanatic and expenses fiddler* Chris Huhne, Pantone #1235 (Saffron) coloured bank robber Peter Hain, Alex Wee Eck Salmond and former New Statesman deputy editor Cristina Odone.

*As a bit of random trivia, Huhne claimed £85.35 on expenses for having a picture of himself framed and inscribed.

Those hoping for a double-bill of idiocy will be disappointed – there is no This Week this week.

Your long-suffering brace of Moderators; TheEye and David Mosque, will be tilting at windmills here from 10:30pm.

Question Time LiveBlog 7th April 2011

Question Time tonight comes from Oxford.

On the panel tonight we have Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport Jeremy Hunt MP, Caroline “female window dressing” Flint MP, Jo Swinson MP, Labour “Lord” Robert Winston and gay luvvie Simon Callow.

The LiveBlog will also cover the demented This Week, with Andrew Neil, Michael Portillo and Jacqui Smith – with guests David Schneider and Jay Rayner, and the round-up from BBC Deputy Political Editor James Landale.

Your cheerful brace of Moderators; TheEye and David Mosque, will be looking to keep order here from 10:30pm.

Question Time LiveBlog 31th March 2011

Question Time tonight comes from London.

At the time of writing this (approx 7pm) confirmed panelists according to the BBC Question Time website are Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, Sarah Teather MP, Diane Abbott MP and the regularly tedious Clive Anderson. It’s unclear whether an extra panelist is yet  to be confirmed, whether Abbott is vast enough to count as two people, or whether she’s already eaten the unlucky 5th chair z-list celeb.

Perhaps Abbott and Teather are supposed to average out?

UPDATE: Thanks to the ever-alert Clameur de Haro for updating us that mouth-breathing trade union parasite Mark Serwotka will be on the panel too. *sigh*

The LiveBlog will also cover the insane This Week, with Andrew Neil, Michael Portillo, a random lefty politician and an unbranded 6-pack of hangers-on.

Your cheerful brace of Moderators; TheEye and David Mosque, will be looking menacing here from 10:30pm.

Question Time LiveBlog 24th March 2011

Question Time tonight comes from London.

On the panel we have ex-spook and future Foreign Secretary Rory Stewart MP, the “ginger rodentDanny Alexander MP, newt-loving nutter Ken Livingstone, rocker-druggie Mick’s ex-wife Bianca Jagger and historian Niall Ferguson.

Red Ken on tonight, eh? Doubtless Boris will be on next week for Mayoral election balance? No, thought not. On a positive note, though, QT will follow a Party Budget Broadcast by Red Ed which should cost him a couple of points in the polls.

The LiveBlog will also cover the insane This Week, with Andrew Neil, Michael Portillo, a random lefty politician and a veritable smorgasbord of hangers-on. Let’s see if they can top the owl-eyed and off-her-face fashion designer from last week who mumbled some disconnected views about nuclear power.

TheEye and David Mosque will be cutting fuel tax here from 10:30pm.
