SHILLING FOR THE NHS…

The BBC is obsessive on the need to tell us how wonderful the NHS is as a health-care system. It does so as a not so subtle battering ram to force the Conservatives into wasting the same huge sums of OUR taxes on it as has Labour when they come to power. This is all about positioning for future years. You can understand why the BBC admires huge taxpayer funded … Continue reading

ON TOUR WITH THE QUEEN

I caught Kwame Kwei-Armah being interviewed on the BBC this morning concerning his documentary “On Tour with the Queen. The former Casualty actor and much loved neo political commentator was able to tell us that Australia did not want Her Majesty as Head of State, and it showed a clip of him being interviewed on Jamaican radio laughing uproariously at the suggestion by a caller that Independence has been a … Continue reading

JUST ANOTHER MANIC MONDAY

What better way for the brave little class warriors at the BBC to start the week but by giving an easy canter to the hard-left Compass group’s lunatic suggestion that we need a “High Pay” Commission. In essence, Compass want Government to determine an upper limit on what we can earn and on the level of financial bonus we receive. The Compass spokesman got away with the canard that “greed” … Continue reading

"Why Have Prisons ?" Redux

An afterthought to (and some additional information on) the Today programme’s three-item (one, two, three) ‘don’t lock them up’ fest of last Thursday, noted by David here : Two points. One is the BBC double-whammy reporting – that not only do Barnardo’s think that too many young criminals are being locked up, but the Parliamentary Justice Committee think the same thing – which was reported as a separate item on … Continue reading

THOSE CONSERVATIVE SHIAS

I was reading this BBC report on the law that has been just passed in Afghanistan that will allow a man to starve his wife to death if she does not agree to have sex with him. According to the State Broadcaster “Mr Karzai is selling out Afghan women for the sake of conservative Shia support at next week’s presidential election.” Let us be clear; there is nothing that is … Continue reading

THE BIG QUESTIONS?

Just watching Nicky Campbell’s wonderfully awful “Big Question” programme. Here were the two main issues that were covered. “After 200 deaths, have we the moral duty to remain in Afghanistan.” The first guy Nicky interviewed was called Mohammed. (sic) The lead panellist on this, Rory Stewart, believed that we should be get out of Afghanistan. Listen to the debate and all you can hear is the dismal beat of surrender … Continue reading

SHAPPI ALERT

I commend universal Shappi to you. She is on the Andrew Marr programme this morning and has become the BBC’s favourite pet Iranian. Notice she reckons that it might have been a fair election in Iran. Click through to read and contribute comments on this post.

GROW YOUR OWN BIAS!

This excellent example of bias was picked up by Will20001 on our current Open Thread and I thought it deserved much broader exposure. Get this; A propaganda piece on BBC2 last night, an uplifting tale for the little people who are fearful of immigration. “Grow your own” an everyday tale of allotment holders. BBC Radio Times sets the scene An influx of refugees from Iran, China and Zimbabwe initially brings … Continue reading

ON MANDY…

The BBC’s current crusade (Can I say that word?) against the Conservatives continues in this little construction. Note the way that it is an image of Lord Mandelson that the BBC chooses to use with regard to this story AND it is Mandelson who gets the last word on the subject. Setting up the Banks against the Conservatives must get BBC hearts a fluttering whilst simultaneously suggesting that Labour is … Continue reading

Hot air for U2

The BBC and U2, eh? Hand in glove, they go. I can’t say I was surprised to find a pretty meaningless article on the BBC frontpage all day which described how the frontman of Talking Heads had bitched a little about U2’s lavishly funded world tour. The article can’t decide if it’s the obscene costs of the tour, or its obscene carbon footprint that’s the problem. But it gives the … Continue reading
