SHILLING FOR TOTALITARIANISM.

I read with despair this BBC report on the continuing fall out from the outrageous arrest of Damian Green by anti-terrorist police a few days ago. The BBC seems intent to present this episode as if it were merely an issue between the Conservative Party and the procedure followed by the authorities in the Commons rather than the very real conflict this presents between a domineering control freak government and … Continue reading

OBAMA THE HAWK.

I listened to Justin Webb on Today this morning and it is as if he inhabits an alternative universe! Justin declared that if anything, Obama was more intent on the “Bush doctrine” than was Bush and that The One was quite intent on pursuing the war on terror. Earth to Justin – waken up pal! Obama and his apostles are determined to shift power from the military to the sophisticated … Continue reading

CLOSE TO EU?

I see that the BBC is running the line by the president of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso that the UK is “closer than ever before” to joining the euro currency zone. Speaking on a French radio show, he said British politicians were considering the move because of the effects of the global credit crunch. Given that Labour denies it has had any change of heart on the Euro, … Continue reading

BBC BOURBONS

BBC BOURBONS Reading Jay Hunt, the Controller of BBC1, describe Jonathan Ross as “responsible” made me think that the BBC hierarchy are like the Bourbons in that they learn nothing and forget nothing. How on earth can anyone describe the sniggering puerile cash grabbing Wossy as “responsible” when he has shown no evidence that he even understands the concept? The Labour Defence Team

The Labour Defence Team Newsnight Michael Crick and Newsnight did a smear job on Friday on the Government’s abuse of power in arresting Damian Green, in a programme flagged up by John Reith spins in his grave in the comments. Crick begins his report (20 mins into the BBC broadcast ) by talking of the “mystery” of Damian Green’s leaks, and how this may run and run. Of course, the … Continue reading

SOCIALIST SACRIFICES

SOCIALIST SACRIFICES. I note the BBC has been reporting the Great Leader declaring that it is important that “top earners” accept that they must pay more in income tax to “share the sacrifice.” As you know, the new top tax rate of 45% has been set to kick in at £150,000. As Private Eye points out, how fortunate then that those in Brown’s Politboro are only only raking in just … Continue reading

LEFT, LEFT, LEFT

LEFT, LEFT, LEFT. Caught the beginning of Any Questions this evening and had a chuckel at the make up of the panel. There was Geoff Hoon (Left), Caroline Lucas (Left), Vince Cable (New to the BBC I think, ahem, but also Left) and David Willets (Soft-centre). So hint of bias there, right? First up was a question on whether “extremism”as evidenced in events on Bombay could be defeated. Caroline Lucas … Continue reading

Compare and Contrast: the Damian Green debacle

According to the BBC: “The Tories say they understand counter-terrorism officers were involved in searches of his home and offices.” The “Tories” “say” they “understand” According to the Guardian: “counter-terrorism police arrested the shadow Home Office minister, Damian Green” “nine counter-terrorism officers conducted simultaneous searches at four locations: Green’s constituency office and home in Ashford, Kent, his office in the House of Commons and his London home.” Sounds pretty factual … Continue reading
