Is That True Or Did You Hear It On The BBC?

In his latest book, author David Sedgwick quotes the BBC’s own words back at it giving the broadcaster nowhere to hide.

Cast your minds back a couple of years to the start of the so-called covid-19 panic. Just months into the outbreak a government advisory body called The Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Behaviours (SPI-B) made a statement which should have instantly alerted the population to what was about to happen.
Given that the death rate from the ‘deadly pandemic’ was so low, the group concluded that: ‘A substantial number of people still do not feel sufficiently personally threatened (by it).’ In order to remedy this situation – to ensure people did feel threatened – the group advised the threat level needed to be increased by using ‘hard-hitting emotional messaging.’
And so, along with its mainstream media allies the editorially ‘independent’ BBC duly began to pump out story after story of sky-rocketing cases, hospitalisations and deaths both with and from covid. It didn’t matter how or why; the government demanded fear and the state broadcaster delivered. What the BBC singularly failed to do was question the motivations behind this edict: why manufacture a state of fear when one did not exist?
Although I’ve been writing about BBC machinations for several years now, even I was shocked at the level of deception employed by the broadcaster at government behest. Declaring the Pfizer vaccine “100%” safe for children in a now infamous BBC Newsround broadcast was just the tip of a hugely dangerous iceberg. By this stage the broadcaster was doing everything it could to urge people – children – to take the experimental vaccine. But what made this latest effort so egregious was the fact that cases of myocarditis – especially in teenage boys – were being regularly reported by the scientific community.
Immune to reality, the BBC ploughed on. The “100% safe” claim was merely edited out of the video. Other claims including one which stated the vaccine offered 95% protection against covid were left standing. Under pressure the broadcaster finally sneaked out a brief acknowledgment on the Corrections page of its website. Devi Sridhar, the ‘expert’ who had made the false claim, meanwhile escaped rebuke. In fact, Sridhar was rewarded with a series on BBC Radio Four promoting a book she had written about the ‘pandemic…’
The BBC’s handling of covid-19 and the ‘pandemic’ is one of a number of stories covered in my newly-released book mischievously titled: Is That True Or Did You Hear It On The BBC? The theme of this, the third in a series of BBC critiques, is the broadcaster’s cosy relationship to wealth and power – especially its pivotal role within what I term US-(UK) hegemonic power and for whom it carries much water. It is precisely this PR role that accounts for the ceaseless pro-vaccine propaganda seen and heard across the BBC platform these past two years: for the ‘British’ Broadcasting Corporation works not for the (ordinary) British people, but on behalf of powerful (mainly US) corporate political interests such as Bill Gates, Pfizer, Wall Street and various offshoots of US hard power aka the military industrial complex.
Disinformation is necessary to promote the interests of these powerful actors. And this, of course, is why the BBC is such a valuable asset of global power: without incessant and hysterical propaganda, the covid hoax would have almost certainly fallen flat on its dishonest face; without the BBC climate alarmism too would have no doubt faltered.
Thus, the BBC attempts to invert reality, to convince its audience that the world is not how it appears, rather it is how the rich and powerful proscribe: a world facing a ‘climate emergency’ and covid ‘pandemic’ potential disasters which only the (BBC-approved) ‘experts’ such as Devi Sridhar or Neal Ferguson can solve. Just do as you are told: stop going out; stop driving; stop flying; stop eating meat; stop breathing. But DO panic.
Having already written two previous books exposing what has become a truly pernicious organisation, my latest effort will no doubt be ignored by the entire mainstream – especially the ‘quality’ (and even red-top) newspapers and politicians of every stripe. No matter, I write these books to chronicle the staggering dishonesty and arrogance displayed by the BBC. My aim is to create a permanent record, one that cannot be wiped away by Google or any other BBC-friendly organisation.
Enjoy the trip, but please ensure appropriate medication is at hand…

Weekend 30 October 2021

For those who do not accept the ‘climate change theory ‘ – this weekend poses a dilemma. Do we listen to the output of the BBC or switch it all off and do something useful . It will be tempting to watch poor old joe Biden trying to read the autocue and being praised for not answering questions by BBC automatons …..

Weekend Open Thread 20 April 2019

I was going to call it the Easter Open Thread but this site is primarily about bearing witness to the bias of the Far Left BBC as opposed to specific religions [or none ]. Any way – there is a new line of attack for us . The BBC has whole heartedly swallowed all the human- activity-changing- climate stuff . You may agree or not .

But the point is – if the BBC wants to cut its ‘carbon fingerprint ‘ – is it doing it ? How many beeboids are sent to stand in front of events to talk at the camera when they’d do the same job sitting in a studio ? How much carbon is used and taxpayers’ cash spent ?

‘Does this evil organisation practice what it now preaches ? Perhaps every programme should have its carbon footprint published – the number of air miles and car miles – and programme cost -for starters .

Happy Easter .

George Orwell, the professor and the BBC

I’m indebted to Guest Who for posting this bizarre tweet by Nick Robinson about Orwell. I was stunned by it, struggling to absorb the fact that the BBC could put a statue of Orwell up at its headquarters, complete with the following quote:

If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear

Once I’d recovered sufficiently to ask Google for help, I was directed to Jean Seaton, professor of media history and the official BBC historian, who last month wrote an article on Orwell. I found her assertion that, “Orwell would laugh at the statues of him that are sprouting up,” fascinating since it appeared to be a direct assault on those who had commissioned the statue and placed it at BBC headquarters. Could this be evidence of independent thinking, free of the iron grip of far-left ideology which has paralysed so many universities?

Well, maybe not since the professor also tells us that, “In the US, sales [of 1984] surged as people searched for a way of getting to grips with the reality of the Trump administration.” As if Trump, the embattled president of a democracy with all its checks and balances, resembles Big Brother, who has absolute power over life and death as the head of a dictatorship; as if Trump, as he struggles to drain the swamp, is in fact the alpha alligator.

Why did the professor need to signal her virtue with the obligatory anti-Trump stance? Perhaps she is simply making amends for being critical of the statue. She needs to understand that even if the rise in sales of 1984 can be positively linked to Trump, that says nothing about the president himself but is rather revealing about the paranoia and ignorance of so many who oppose him.

But to get back to the BBC, does it not realize that Orwell knew what the state propagandist was about even back in the 1940s and that he would be horrified if he could see it now?

Did the BBC read 1984 without understanding a word of it?

In attempting to align itself with Orwell, the BBC has committed an arrogant act of historical revisionism that, for me, is the culmination of all its previous sins. This alleged media champion of liberty is standing shoulder to shoulder with George Orwell and telling people what they do not want to hear? What rubbish. From climate change skeptics to Donald Trump’s remarkable achievements to the courageous stand by Tommy Robinson and others against the Islamic invasion of the West, the BBC is in fact not telling people what it does not want them to hear.

The Ministry of Truth is lying again and this one is the biggest lie it has ever told.

Updates, June 10:

1. Thanks for all those fascinating contributions. I learned a lot from them and have responded to some of them.

2. I have substituted ‘bizarre’ for ‘extraordinary’ to describe Nick Robinson’s tweet.

3. The following is taken from Orwell’s The Road to Wigan Pier, published in 1937, Penguin edition pp 189-90. Over 80 years later, it still rings true:

“It is usual to speak of the Fascist objective as the ‘beehive state’, which does a grave injustice to bees. A world of rabbits ruled by stoats would be nearer the mark. It is against this beastly possibility that we have got to combine.

“The only thing for which we can combine is the underlying ideal of Socialism; justice and liberty. But it is hardly strong enough to call this ideal ’underlying’. It is almost completely forgotten. It has been buried beneath layer after layer of doctrinaire priggishness, party squabbles, and half-baked ‘progressivism’ until it is like a diamond hidden under a mountain of dung. The job of the Socialist is to get it out again. Justice and Liberty! Those are the words that have got to ring like a bugle across the world. For a long time past, certainly for the last ten years, the devil has had all the best tunes. We have reached a stage when the very word ‘Socialism’ calls up, on the one hand, a picture of aeroplanes, tractors, and huge glittering factories of glass and concrete; on the other, a picture of vegetarians with wilting beards, of Bolshevik commissars (half gangster, half gramophone), of earnest ladies in sandals, shock-headed Marxists chewing polysyllables, escaped Quakers, birth-control fanatics, and Labour Party backstairs-crawlers. Socialism, at least in this island, does not smell any longer of revolution and the overthrow of tyrants; it smells of crankishness, machine-worship, and the stupid cult of Russia. Unless you can remove that smell, and very rapidly, Fascism may win.”

Cheap and Nasty

You always know you have a stupid, lazy, unpleasant, cowardly comedian when they go for Trump.  They know that they are guaranteed some applause from a certain segment of the audience if they sneer at Trump and make some asinine joke about him, it doesn’t even have to be funny or true…just say ‘Trump’ and you’ll get the applause.  They of course won’t do jokes that are seen as in his favour as to do so would result in Twitter going into meltdown and their credibility as a right-on comedian left in tatters.  They just aren’t brave enough to do real funny, they just go for the group-think tribal self-confirming comfort blanket of anti-Trumpism.  It would be like a white comedian making jokes about Obama because he’s black to a KKK meeting.  Anti-Trumpism is a sort of racism, it’s bigotry, stupidity and cowardice.  The same comedian of course would never make jokes about Mohammed and Islam despite the extraordinary horrors done in the name of Allah.

‘Comedian’ Desiree Burch on the News Quiz is that lazy, bigoted comedian who instead of thinking up some real jokes goes for the low hanging fruit of the Trump.   She laughs at his Tweet about the NHS being in crisis and sneers that he gets his news from Fox…how they laughed.  Only Trump was really just ‘retweeting’ the extremists of the BBC, the Labour Party and the activist doctors and nurses who agitate on behalf of the Labour Party and whose constant drumbeat has been of an NHS in crisis but who suddenly all now agree that the NHS is the best health service in the world.

So a chance to make a joke about the hypocrisy of those who have weaponised the NHS and told constant lies about it and another chance to reference Trump retweeting extremist material not by ‘Britain First’ but by ‘Britain Last’...ie the BBC et al.  But no…go for the easy laugh from your unthinking tribal groupies….don’t challenge them, don’t challenge yourself with some original thought.

It’s the same with thoughtless, partisan politicians who go for that easy applause as Stephen Kinnock did on Any Questions [again the audience seemingly packed with lefties…or a very vocal minority] when he claimed Trump was the problem when it came to North Korea.  Apparently Trump has only made things worse there and he needs to tone his rhetoric down.  Yep, that has worked really well for decades hasn’t it as North Korea totally ignored everything ‘diplomatic’ Presidents have said?  Kinnock is either a fool or bigoted liar prepared to make totally untrue statements for his own ends….intended to make Stephen Kinnock look good [but failing, like father, like son]…‘Trump, what a crass, dangerous and stupid fellow ha ha ha!…clap me now!’

Trouble is what is going on over there directly relates to Trump’s sabre rattling which was intended to, and did, scare the Chinese who then imposed sanctions on North Korea…and now we see North Korea at least going through the motions of trying to be more friendly to South Korea…will it last?  Who knows but it is due to Trump, his sabre rattling backing up a good deal of behind the scenes diplomacy.

Shame Dimbleby then referred to Kinnock’s interpretation as if it was the reality and that Trump really did have to tone down his language…doesn’t he?

Kirsty Wark on Newsnight continued in similar anti-Trump vain with some stupid comments that made no attempt to make a fair assessment or judgement on Trump’s claim that CNN [and all the rest] has been pumping out fake news, it has.  Wark, as is the standard BBC line, claims Trump [apparently now a ‘despot’] is wrong and the MSM, the BBC, is totally blameless and trustworthy….might say such shameless white-washing and stone-walling comments defending the MSM prove her completely wrong and Trump right….H/T Sue at Is the BBC biased? for the quote….

“Aren’t you aiding the despots who say “it’s all about fake news from CNN even the BBC, so we won’t believe it?” You are aiding people by undermining the probity of the mainstream media?”

‘Probity of the mainstream media’…ho, ho,ho….and you still believe in Father Christmas, unicorns and man-made climate change.
