THE EVIL BP…

Is it just me or is Laura Trevelyan not that happy about the news that BP seem to have a degree of success ij capping the spilling oil well in the Gulf? Throughout this period, the BBC seems to have aligned itself with Obama as he takes shots at BP – leading to the survival of the company itself being brought into question. What is it about British Petroleum the … Continue reading

Lost in Translation

In days of yore the BBC acquired a reputation for excellence. The world switched off their local news organs, suspicious they were being fed propaganda. They turned instead unto the BBC and they saw that it was good.Fastforward and into reverse. It has been said that Al Jazeera is now more impartial than the BBC. The lag between the BBC itself realising this and the media savvy public doing so … Continue reading

MIND YOUR LANGUAGE

BBC News 24, reporting the government’s apparent intention to at last cut the extortionate, ever-rising BBC licence fee, described culture secretary Jeremy Hunt as being “aggressive” towards the corporation. How dare he suggest that the BBC should be part of cuts was the indignant tone, especially as sacrifices such as the closure of the Asian network were being made. Would that the same language was applied to Palestinian terrorists and … Continue reading

DEAD SEA SCARE…

BBC website serial fantasist Mark Kinver spends his time combing the world looking for climate change alarmist tosh. His latest foray into the field is a full-scale scare story aimed – as ever – at terrifying our kids into believing that Red Sea coral reefs will stop growing by 2070 because sea temperatures will by then have risen so much that they will die. There’s just one problem in this … Continue reading

HOTLINE TO THE BBC

I found it interesting that a man who says he is the renegade Afghan soldier who killed three British troops in Helmand province in Afghanistan has contacted the BBC. The man said he had been angry at the conduct of British troops and that he had acted alone. He said he joined the Taliban after the attack. Well, he sure knew who to phone, didn’t he? Wonder do the Taliban … Continue reading

THE BEAT OF DEFEAT…

The BBC is opposed to war. In the mind of the State Broadcaster it is never right to defend a Nation by taking action against a foreign power. So, when we helped in the liberation of Iraq, it got very cross and still whinges about how “illegal” that war was. Of course even as it churned out a daily mantra of pessimism whilst our brave soldiers were doing their duty … Continue reading

CRIME AND NON PUNISHMENT

I suggest that one of the most dangerous features of the BBC is the persistent advocacy of the idea that prison does not work and that criminals should not be punished. In this new Ken Clarke era of liberal Justice, the BBC is doing everything possible to remove prison as a destination for criminals. This morning, on Today, at 6.50am, Northern Ireland’s “restorative justice” model was held up as a … Continue reading

Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off.

Constant repetition of a word or phrase can transform it from eloquent to hollow. However perfectly it encapsulates a situation, over-use will render it meaningless.Trotted out over and over again, words like vilify, delegitimise, illegal war, international law, apartheid, and many more, lose their impact; particularly when they’re bandied about willy nilly by people who have no idea whether what they’ve said is justified, appropriate or the truth. Peace activist, … Continue reading

Question Time tonight comes from Bexhill-on-Sea; famous for staging the UK’s first ever motor race and the discovery of the world’s oldest spider web encased in amber.
