Obama Season on BBC 2

Last Sunday I blogged about the BBC’s decision not to show a documentary because it apparently failed to meet the “strict rules on objectivity”.

On Wednesday the BBC issued the following press release:

It’s one year since the inauguration of Barack Obama and BBC Two has the British premiere of a remarkable Storyville film, By The People: The Election of Barack Obama. Filmed by two young filmmakers who were given remarkable access to Obama’s election campaign, it has captured moments of extraordinary candour and intimacy. This film will be complemented by Simon Schama’s two-part film, Obama’s America, which considers the daunting challenges facing the president; and God Don’t Live Here Anymore?, in which theologian and writer Dr Robert Beckford journeys into heartland America to investigate the impact of Obama, both as a politician and a believer.

How objective can we expect that little lot to be?

From Hank Stuever’s review of “By The People” in the Washington Post:

HBO’s uplifting but stultifyingly naive, please-drink-a-little-more-Kool-Aid paean to the historical highlights of President Obama’s campaign and election…

At a recent VIP screening in Washington, the campaign’s advertising director joked that [filmmakers] Rice and Sams wound up in the way of all best shots of America’s Obama moments. The audience — made up mainly of political reporters who lived through the campaign, and some White House staff — laughed at that, mainly because, as almost everyone acknowledged, “By the People” is really just a very long commercial for Obama.

And here’s the Associated Press:

The documentary has a laudatory tone; after following Obama for two years both Rice and Sams said they voted for him. The film could leave Obama fans pining about potential yet unfulfilled and give opponents another example of the media fawning over the president.

On the day after Obama’s victory, the BBC’s Storyville editor Nick Fraser wrote the following on his blog at the Independent:

I have never seen anyone like Obama. Politicians do not have the wisdom or brass to address us in this way. So, in common with the rest of America and indeed the world I watched the events at Grant park, succumbing to the hope.

Little wonder a “stultifyingly naïve, please-drink-a-little-more-Kool-Aid paean to the historical highlights of President Obama’s campaign and election” appealed to him so much.

As for Schama and Beckford – the BBC covered the previous administration by commissioning aggressively anti-Bush films from the likes of Republican-hating activist Greg Palast. For analysis of the current administration it turns to a historian who is one of Obama’s biggest cheerleaders, and a theologian who has a poster of Malcolm X on his office wall at Birmingham University.

Are there any anti or even neutral documentaries about Obama out there? Getting funding may seem to be a real problem.

According to my American friends the gilts rubbing off Obama at a rapid rate of knots and his biggest critics are the blacks.

To be fair given the way he wasn’t so much elected as subjected to a process of apotheosis he was never going to live up to his billing but the fact he’s just another Chicago machine politician is being taken hard by some people.

Despite the billions Barry has pissed away on “Stimuli” US unemployment continues to rise (in some states 15% or more) just like here in the UK.

We have a useless one eyed cretin running us here but loved by the BBC and the Yanks have a Chicago crook also loved by the BBC. Anyone see a link here?

For daily alternative view to BBC’s deification of Obama, see
‘FOX NEWS’ on Sky satellite, Channel 509 in UK. (E.g. Glenn Beck’s usually on weekdays at 10 pm UK time.)

The BBC’s view of Obama is the same as global warming, the science is decided now accept our view and get on with it. obama is a great man now live with it.

Any attempt to oppose the idea that Obama is the greatest person to walk the Earth since the Prophet mohammad is dismissed by the BBC.

Will they have pieces from those two Beeboid turd sniffers Richard Bacon and Anita Annand?

Might be fun seeing Aunty trying to weigh their promo of anything climate, especially Copenhagen, and that they have for President Obama, now that the latter has come over all political and decided that he might not as such, be so keen because his voting base is not as such… any more.

Just this morning we had our Sophie and Miliband E holding hands and just wishing he come.

He might still, but not to ratify and deal. And if he does, I expect a 747 chartered to get the whole sorry crew over there to feel the love, if not report anything.

Now that would be OK, but then… who is paying? Including the planet.

Obama is the same as George Bush – a killer of Muslim brothers and sisters in the Holy Lands.

Don’t worry, brother.  He’s already planning out complete withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, and most of Iraq.  Of course, you don’t care about Muslims killing Muslims, so you’ll get plenty more of that soon.  Enjoy.

Muslims killing Muslims is really funny, I used to LOVE the Iran/Iraq war, seeing these idiots kill each other was highly amusing. I used to cheer both sides on.

And on that note, I’m sure there are many in Afganistan cheer every death of a British or American soldier.

Opening the doors to the greatest racist bigots on the planet, of which you are one, is one of the reasons that this country has been descending into the toilet. FYI – You haven’t got a card in your deck that you can play that’s going to cut any ice here, so don’t bother, We are really aware of what you and your brethren are up to, which makes you naked – even behind your regular perfidy.
What makes us superior is that we can weigh up things and think for ourselves – outside the box. You however are just one more brainwashed being that views the world the way it’s been drummed into you. Not what you discovered and developed for yourself. You couldn’t make this heaven which is why you seek it in the hereafter – controlling others. I pity you.

Maybe you should pay more attention.

Do you care about white christians killing white christians? Happens every day in your USA. Maybe focus on that a bit more, Muslims a bit less.

Can you give me 365 examples – if it happens every day this should not be a problem.

      • Tahir Hussain says:

Yes, examples for yobs killing each other, or innocent people. People getting killed at robberies, domestic assaults etc. These are whites killing whites no? Same thing. But thats not interest to you because you rather deal with Muslims – helps you avoid thinking about why is America and Britain such violent countries.

        • John Horne Tooke says:

But religion plays no part in these killings does it? These Yobs can hardly be described as christians can they. There are many reasons for the increase in violence in the UK but christianity is not one. Christians do not go around blowing themselves up in packed buses or tube trains or fly planes into skyscrapers. So in the Middle East no Palastinian attacks another, there is no violence in Egypt. Crime does not exist in Pakistan or Syria?

It’s true John, on our estate there are gangs of Christian yobs causing all sorts of trouble. One just the other day held me at knifepoint quoting scripture about getting stoned or some such gibberish.

    Hello infidels.
Never mind what the great Hawaiian Satan may propose, the BBC have already prepared their coverage before he opens his mouth.
Indeed we could well do with-out his interference as our operatives have already posted Copy.
    Long live the DG.

Obama’s salvation will be the resilience and inventiveness of the American people. They, not him, will get the country back on track again. He probably knows this full well. However BBC type liberals , worshippers at the shrine of the state, will attribute a reviving US to his great statesmanship.
As for us ,led by state worshippers, we have little chance of revival .
Those who love the state will perish by the state but not until they have bled the rest of us dry.
