PISSED OFF?

No, I’m not being rude but merely quoting Alistair Darling on this BBC video (Which hilariously carries a warning that “This video contains strong language” – have you heard the profanities that litter so many BBC productions?) Anyway, Darling points out just how grim things are for the UK economy whilst suggesting that this is because of those international perfect storm economic conditions. The BBC interviewer could have enquired how it is that whilst the US reports 3.3% growth in the last quarter the UK under Labour has managed 0%. But that might suggest economic incompetence on behalf of Brown and Darling and that ain’t part of the BBC’s game. World conditions, nothing to see here, move along to the job centre…

As has already been noted by B-BBC’s perspicacious readers, the US election has suddenly dropped off the BBC’s lead news portal after days of Obamania dominating its daily agenda. I wonder what could have caused such a mysterious disappearance?

Hang on a second, I found this link related to someone called “The Barracuda”. She seems to be a poor choice for a political role whoever she is since..and I quote from the BBC… “By choosing her, Mr McCain may have undercut his best attack against Senator Obama – if he uses the inexperience card now it will be turned against him and his running mate. While conservatives, such as radio host Rush Limbaugh and former Bush adviser Karl Rove, hailed the Palin surprise, there were also dismayed reactions from some Republicans, who felt the choice underscored Mr McCain’s weaknesses and was too risky. In the meantime, Mr McCain and his new partner have something else to worry about – Mrs Palin is facing an investigation in Alaska for alleged abuse of power involving her former brother-in-law. Her deposition is expected to be scheduled soon. ” The BBC – never knowingly fair and balanced.

? I think that the BBC coverage of this US election really does warrant a whole chapter to itself in the forthcoming Biased BBC book. It just goes from bad to worse. Did you catch Sarah Montague’s 7.12am interview with the Beeb Washington correspondent Kim Ghattas concerning the selection of Sarah Palin to run as V-P? It’s laced with subtle and not so subtle attacks on Palin and the buzz words are “inexperience” “anti abortion” “very conservative.” Sarah Montague and Kim Ghattas both agree that McCain has “undercut” his best line of attack against the Obamessiah by choosing such as inexperienced candidate and then tried to present this GOP choice as a victory for the Dems. I am no fan of John McCain but let me say that should he win in November, then there will be at least one bottle of champagne strewn across the corridor in my house! The BBC are bound to declare a day of national mourning with accompanying solemn music, before launching into the “racist” America diatribe that is never far from the surface in their toxic left wing minds. Their coverage of this election has been staggeringly biased and in my mind it is more evidence why the axe needs to be taken to such a powerful but unbalanced State broadcaster.

Did anyone else just see Justin Webb on the BBC 10 0 Clock news suggesting that by selecting the “inexperienced” Sarah Palin the GOP has made it much more difficult…. for themselves to attack the Obamessiah? Amazing to see the BBC twist in the breeze as it struggles to come to terms with McCain’s audacity in his VP selection! They are looking to find ways to character assassinate Sarah Palin and watching the venom coming through is quite an experience. Anyone else feel a BBC bubble being burst..?

. I rarely listen to “Any Questions” but was unlucky enough to catch about 15 minutes of it this evening. Naturally the ubiquitous Ken Livingstone was on the panel – as was putative suicide bomber Jenny Tongue. (She’s a lady, you know) Livingstone was permitted to trot out some amazing claims about his pal and employer Venezuelan thug Hugo Chavez to loud applause from the audience but the bit that struck me was an almost unanimous assault from the panel on all those millions of folks who like to travel by air. Even Peter Hitchens joined in – with the panel droning on about the wonders of rail travel and how IT should be supported. (Not a great transport mode for getting across the Atlantic) This fits into the BBC agenda that air travel should only be for special interest groups like themselves. The plebs should stay at home and restrict their travel mode to bus and train, preferably run by the State.

Well, the celebrations following Obama’s historic election as US President continued unabated on the BBC today. What’s that you say? He hasn’t been elected yet? Mmm..hard to tell when it comes to the Barack Broadcasting Corporation this morning! Two interviews ln less than 30 minutes this morning from the BBC with no pretence of balance – just pure Obamania.

At 7.13am we had an interview with the Democrat economics adviser Professor James Galbraith of Harvard University. Galbraith was allowed to waffle about the dire state of the US economy with nary a mention of the fact that the US economy has just enjoyed surging growth of 3.3% in the last quarter. (Wanna compare THAT with the Eurozone performance, Beeboids?) Galbraith spouted the usual half-baked left wing economics that Democrats always advocate, even being invited by the BBC interviewer to compare Obama’s protectionist plans to those of the “New Deal”. Any student of economics with any will understand just how profoundly flawed THAT was and yet the BBC was hailing it as economic success incarnate and the good Professor grabbed the rhetorical ball and happily ran with it.

Next up at 7.40am we had Justin Webb with his daily dose of pro-Obama propaganda followed by James Naughtie interviewing Sam Liebermam, chairman of the Democrat Party of Nevada. Naughtie concluded by wishing Lieberman “good luck”. We get the picture. Listen to the BBC – Vote Obama.

BACK IN THE USSR….

Well, tuning into the TODAY programme after a break of a few days doesn’t last long before out jumps the rampant bias with which that this site so concerned. Did you catch the simpering pro-Russian interview conducted at 7.09? US Ambassador to Nato Kurt Volker was directly asked if a/ He accepted that the US was to blame for the Russian assault on Georgia and if b/Georgia was partly to blame for the Russian assault on Georgia? The icy tone adopted by Sarah Montague when interviewing the amiable Volker was telling – this was an interview with a clear subtext; Russia is not to blame for invading another sovereign State and Russia is also the victim of American imperialism. All that was missing was the Russian Anthem playing gently in the background whilst this interview was being conducted. How the BBC must miss the glory years of the USSR…

THE DRUGS AREN’T WORKING

. I see the BBC has been running the story concerning five soldiers that have been dismissed from the Army after failing a drugs test. The soldiers are from the King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, and their duties include guarding the Queen. An Army spokesman added: “Drug misuse in the armed forces will not be tolerated. “Positive rates in the Army over the last three years average around 0.8%, compared with over 7% in civilian workplace drug testing programmes in the UK.” Got me thinking what the drug misuse rate is amongst BBC presenters. Maybe ace reporter Jonny Dymond could do a special investigation on the topic or… might he turn his nose up at the prospect ?

TAX GRAB.

It’s clear that the BBC is sympathetic to those politicians who favour raiding the cash assets of the energy companies as a means to obtain cash to then bribe, sorry I mean help “poorer families” struggling to pay their bills. This article is typical of BBC bias. It starts by putting the case in favour of the alleged “windfall tax”. Then, it provides space for an opposing view. But it then carefully segues the recent profits of the energy companies with a poll from the Observer to suggest that the majority of the public favour this tax grab. All very subtle and all contrived to convey the idea that government raiding the profits of private business is an honourable and worthy course of action.
