MOST BIASED MOMENT OF THE YEAR

?

Well, as we approach year end, I thought it might be fun to review 2008 in terms of the worst example of BBC bias that springs to mind! I was looking back over events and I suppose the BBC’s utterly disgraceful one-sided coverage of the US Presidential election campaign stands out – with Justin Webb in particular provoking widespread criticism from this site and its readership. (He has, predictably, been promoted by the BBC as a result of his bias) Then again, we had the “Save Gordon” campaign with the BBC choosing to present our lamentable freak of a Prime Minister as if he were the saviour of the Universe. Funniest moment for me was Gordon confirming in the Commons that he had saved the world! Along the way there has been so much unbalanced left-wing bias from the BBC that it is a veritable target rich environment. So what stands out for YOU, dear reader?

LEAVING ON A JET PLANE

LEAVING ON A JET PLANE

And so, as the sleet falls outside, I pack my sun tan lotion and head off for a short break to warmer climes. I’ll be back in a week’s time but hope that my fellow B-BBC writers will continue to provide you with plenty of meaty material to chew over between now and then. What with the final countdown to the US election and the hysterical Justin Webb now indistinguishable from the Obama-crew, and Gordon Brown being held up as the only man who can save our economic necks, and Wossy and Brand indulging in pranks that distress 78 year olds, has the BBC’s stock ever been higher? I have been enjoying the posts here and hope you have also. Trust this finds you all well and I will speak to you again next week.

A WORD OF THANKS

Just wanted to say a word of sincere thanks to Natalie, Laban and Hugh for their excellent contribution to the site this past week, I hope readers are enjoying the diversity of opinion!

BACK!

Hi folks – normal service has been resumed. I find I cannot access B-BBC via IE but Firefox works for me. Does anyone else have this problem?

PRODUCE IT, FLOG IT, DENY IT!

I was entertained by this quote from Liam Keelan, head of daytime at the BBC, who seeks to explain Beeb policy towards property make-over programmes. “Everything we do at the moment has got to reflect what’s going on,” he says. “It’s not that we ever said that there’s money to be made out there [through property development], but now the advice within our shows is to be careful and make sure you’re not overstretching yourself in the market as it stands.” Eh? If you ever have the misfortune to watch these dreadful property make-over programmes the ONLY message put out is that there is money to be made out there. However the BBC then goes on to reveal that is has three more property shows in development or production! Surreal.

TAKING THE AXE TO THE BBC.

I hope you all have read this excellent article by Antony Jay explaining why the BBC must be broken up. I particularly enjoyed this section….

“The BBC spends more than £4 billion-a-year – far more than we spend on prisons. Yet because of the lack of real commercial pressures, it squanders far too much on bureaucracy, inefficiencies, policy centres and endless tiers of self-serving management.

Further signs of corporate arrogance can be seen in the BBC’s navel-gazing, with its dreary debates about its Charter, its fee, its purpose and its direction. An effective broadcasting outfit would be spending less time on mass introspection and more on making programmes.
Equally irritating is the BBC’s determination to promote a liberal-Left ethos, shown in its obsessions with climate change or multi-culturalism.

As the BBC director Dr Samir Shah said recently, the Corporation’s neurosis about diversity means there are now disproportionate numbers of ethnic minorities on our BBC screens.
So the BBC cannot go on as it is. Reform has to involve a drastic reduction in its operations and bureaucracy, a willingness to face up to technological realities of the modern world and an abandonment of corporate imperialism.”

ONWARDS AND UPWARDS.

Pleased to say that June saw the B-BBC site record the highest number of comments for the past year! Contrary to the whinging of some Beeboids here, this site is on the up and traffic grows. The fact that the odd troll (Indeed some very odd trolls) have to be banished from time to time does us no harm whatsoever and has not lessened the quality or depth of debate. I have a BIG announcement to make to you all concerning the development of Biased BBC and hope to share this in a few days. Thanks again for your support – much appreciated!
