I HAVE SEEN THE FUTURE!

Just a quick word to let you know that, behind the scene, the transformation of the Biased BBC website is almost complete and will be revealed to you all very shortly. I have seen the future look of it and it is a complete and radical change that I hope you will like it when we publish it!

BIASED BBC ETIQUETTE.

It’s been a while BUT I notice a decline again in the language being used here SO can I politely ask you all to ensure that whilst points are made with passion and wit, vulgarity is left at the front door? It makes the site better.

A LEAVE OF ABSENCE.

Well folks, even the most ardent blogger needs a little break and so I am off for a week to Cyprus for a week of gentle sunshine and relaxation. So, I won’t be around until the 9th April and will leave it to my colleagues here to keep you provided with thought-provoking material. I’ll see you again on the 9th or so – refreshed and ready to do battle. See you soon!

MAKING BIASED BBC BETTER!

Following on from my post a few days ago, I intend to move the entire project on to the next level. As you may know, I want a small team of tech/web experts who can get together, agree on a plan to redesign the site with all mod cons (!) I noted that there were a few other folks who clearly have good knowledge of this area (Hello Gosh, Hello Daniel 1979) and perhaps they could drop me a mail via the email the editor function on my own site A Tangled Web, so we can get this thing moving forward. Can you let me know when you mail me if it is OK for me to share your mail with the other members of the development team please? In essence, I want this group to talk together, put a plan in place and then propose back to me what your agreed vision for the site should look like. Then I’ll let you know mine! We can do all this quickly and efficiently. The thing I value is the knowledge YOU may have to help out on this! BTW – and crucially, I do not want anyone to think that this is all about the pursuit of style over substance. It is not! However presenting the case against the BBC in the best possible setting seems a sensible idea to me – so over to you…!!!!

A LITTLE HOUSE KEEPING

Hi all. Just to say that I have been thinking in recent days about how we make this as pleasant and welcoming a site for people as possible and have decided upon the following. I have asked people not to swear (unless it’s for laughs)! and in future, if I am around and see crudity without value, I will delete it. I will also remove any comments which appear gratuitously abusive. If someone chooses to continually resort to ad hominem abuse, I will warn them once and then ban them. I do this to make this a good space for you all. I am no prude and hate having to dictate but this must be done and I am prepared to do it. So, be witty, be incisive, be acerbic, be on topic and you will have no hassle from me. We’re finishing January with great traffic, record levels of comment and I sincerely want to do the right thing here to keep things growing and I hope you will support my aim.

A FIRST ANNIVERSARY!

Hi folks. Today may be 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns but it is also a milestone in my time here at B-BBC for it marks one year to the date since I first started posting here! I wanted to firstly thank Ed for his very kind invitation to me in the first place, and to all those other illustrious writers who have preceded my time here some of whom still illuminate the site with their excellent work. I also wanted to thank all of you readers for your wonderful contributions, believe me I feel your insights always dwarf my own efforts. It’s a breeze being able to write here for you and after this time I hope you have become accustomed to my ways! Thanks to you all – after one year I’m now warmed up – now let the sport begin!

NOT A WAR ZONE

The purpose of this blog is to discuss, to expose and to excoriate BBC bias. That’s where the energy should go and that’s why I write here. What I don’t enjoy, at all, is the ad hominem abuse that disfigures some of the threads. I’ve noticed it creeping in more in recent times and I am worried that it weakens the blog and gives the BBC and those who apologise for it reason to dismiss us as a bunch of in-fighting keyboard warriors. We’re all better than that and so I would urge you all, PLEASE, to desist from having a go at individuals with whom you may not agree or get on. Tackling their arguments, of course, is fine but we could do with less personally directed obscenities and a bit more consideration for others. I am not seeking to patronise or single out anyone but I am trying to start 2009 here on a sound basis and that means YOU all making your usual brilliant points on bias at the BBC but without attacks on each other. Thanks for your help on this, let’s all pull together.

AS THE YEAR DRAWS TO A CLOSE…

Just wanting to take a quiet moment this morning and wish everyone on Biased BBC a Happy New Year. Thanks for all your support in 2008 and I look forward with vigour to 2009. My clear objective next year is to get the Biased BBC book published and tomorrow, on January 1st, I have made plans to start that process! Here’s to a great year exposing the BBC bias and making a real difference. The floor is yours, as ever!

A HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

Well folks, this is my first Christmas here on B-BBC and I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your support over 2008. It’s very much appreciated and I hope I have been able to provide you with at least some good material over the past twelve months. I’d also like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year. I will be blogging over the holidays so please keep dropping by for more fun and games as we dissect Auntie.
