CHURCHILL AND WENDY ALEXANDER.

It’s not obvious but earlier today, on the Today programme, the BBC ran an item which suggested that Winston Churchill may well have endorsed the call from Scottish Labour leader, the mediocre Wendy Alexander, for a referendum on whether Scotland should stay in the Union! It’s amazing the lengths the BBC will go to in order to sully the reputation of a truly Great Briton whilst seeking to elevate that of a lilliputian such as Alexander.

LEAST LIKED AND WHY?

OK, it’s Friday evening here in the People’s Socialist Republic of Gordonstan and it’s time to unwind a little. So, which BBC personality winds YOU up most and why? I know it’s a target-rich environment but I have two nominations. 1. Nicky Campbell – the personification of smug and leftist. 2. Jeremy Bowen – I think I’ve covered this one on my posts! So, the space is yours – ready, take aim……

PUNCH OFTEN PROVOKES RESPONSE.

Don’t know about you but I find that trying to get any balanced news from the BBC on Israel is pretty much impossible. I see that Hamas terrorists have killed an innocent Israeli man by another indiscriminate mortar attack so favoured by these savages, sorry I meant oppressed militants, right? But just reflect on the way the BBC reports this killing..

Palestinian militants frequently fire rockets and mortars at Israel from the Gaza Strip. The attacks often provoke retaliation by the Israeli military.”

Of course Israel will seek to prevent Hamas killers from murdering its citizens, which decent government would not? But that sentence is, in my view, carefully calibrated to subtly suggest a moral equivalence between the two sides, between the terrorist and terrorised. It’s the whole “cycle of violence” drivel that Al-Beeb propagates continually. The fact of this story is that Palestinian terrorists indiscriminately murdered an Israeli civilian. End of. But we would not want to see Palestinians getting a bad press, eh

Two, no three, quick links

  • “And what is your concern about Boris?” London Assembly member James Cleverly writes that “This was the question which greeted callers into Dotun Adebayo’s show on BBC Radio London last night.” His criticism related to the person answering the phones, not to the show itself.
  • The link above came via Iain Dale, who also says, “So in the most successful week for the Conservatives since 1992 THIS WEEK doesn’t have a single Conservative on the programme.”

  • From EU Referendum, a post about Re-inforcing a worldview:

The Australian: “Rain brings hope for bumper crop.”

BBC: “‘Big Dry’ hits Australian farmers.”

  • The nonsense that passes for news

One can’t push back against it all, but Dizzy has a great go at a story which the Independent-echoing BBC report about food waste. It’s probably supposed to make the supposed food crisis more, you know, “interactive”. An absurdly long BBC report misses most of the points which Dizzy raises. The money quote as far as I am concerned occurs almost at the bottom: “WRAP receives government funding from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.” (WRAP is the niftily named organisation which carried out the food waste study. Nb- interesting how Gvt funding is pointedly devolved). Good of them to tell those readers who actually consider the matter newsworthy enough to read to the bottom.

Picture the little group hug that all this involves: the Labour Gvt, WRAP, the Indy, and the BBC. On second thoughts don’t- wouldn’t want you to waste your dinner.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISRAEL

. There is a great dissection of the BBC’s recent 60th birthday “tribute” “to Israel here over on Honest Reporting. The very fact that the BBC selected Jeremy Al Bowen to present this one hour documentary is surreal given HIS track record. It’s akin to having Hannibal Lecter front up a documentary on Veganism.

A taste of things to come arrives in the first few seconds of the broadcast, which features images of Islam’s Dome of the Rock and a Christian crucifix against a Jerusalem backdrop. Despite the deep religious connection of Judaism to both Jerusalem and the land of Israel, this image is, incredibly, omitted. And herein lies the major flaw of the entire program – the legitimate roots of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel going back three millenia are either downplayed, delegitmized or ignored altogether.”
You should give it a read to see just how biased this disgraceful documentary was. I doubt that Hamas could have produced anything worse. There is something about any debate about Israel which brings out the very worst of Al Beeb.

    You know where they stand.

On the BBConline UK frontpage we see “Row looming over cannabis grading”

To its right, a survey is highlighted: “Third of staff ‘hungover at desk’

Surveys and political “debates”- two of the BBC’s favourite things.

Well, what I am suggesting is that such tie-ins between a feature about the classifiction of Cannabis and the deleterous effects of alcohol is not coincidental- the BBC want to emphasise the old talking point about all drugs being equal (except the really hard ones).

Of course it’s manufactured news, opinion rather than reporting events, politicised rather than straightforward- the usual BBC thing.

People might hold all sorts of views on this but they don’t have to force the issue, whether there is a political demand to or not, through the media. Social experience is largely determinative, in my view. Against the BBC survey I would place my own experience- a cousin of mine died through mental ill-health which followed youthful cannabis usage. But, like, whatever…

    RISING WATERS.

You just KNEW it was coming. The BBC ran an item on the “Today” programme this morning just before the 7am headlines about the fact that we are entering into a period where England will suffer more from flooding than it has in the past several decades. Wonder if you caught it? At the start of this three minute item, it was made clear that “global warming” was not the cause of this anticipated future flooding and yet, to my amazement, the item finished with the bizarre claim that it “could” be global warming working in a way which no one had considered. So, to summarise, when we experience weather conditions that fit in with the alleged AGW theory it is flagged up as proof positive and when we experience weather conditions that do NOT fit in with alleged AGW, that is still retailed to the public as proof of AGW!!! Th BBC seems incapable of covering any weather story without sensationalising it up as more proof that the end is nigh. It seems a shame that interesting changes in our weather can no longer be discussed without the assertion of AGW being behind it all.

    WRIGHT NOT WRONG?

So, I’m sure you eagle-eyed B-BBC readers will have spotted that the BBC has been caught out trying to downplay the impact of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s association with the Obama campaign, as picked up by Janet Daly in the Telegraph. The key line is the expression that the BBC correspondent uses when suggesting that the Reverend Jeremiah Wright is a man “whom the US media depicts” as a racially inflammatory figure. This rhetorical device rather implies that Wright is a cleric more sinned against than sinning and that is the bad US MSM which thinks Wright is a wrong-‘un, not the American people. Well, maybe not empty-headed BBC correspondents who probably get themselves excited about Wrights’ vehement anti-Semitic anti-Americanism, but I believe that millions of ordinary Americans have been shocked by this preacher’s poison So please BBC , STOP trying to shill for Obama at every opportunity and STOP trying to ameliorate his dodgy connections, stick to the facts and the primary fact in these primaries is that Rev Wright IS a race-hustling demagogue, and up until a few weeks ago he was Obama’s spiritual guru who he could no more deny than his (white) grandmother.
