DOWN, ROVER!

BBC reports that the the government will punish those who made large amounts of money whilst the Rover car business was running into the ground. Good idea. Will the government now take the same action against those politicians who presided over our economy as it also ran into the ground? Will the BBC ask such a question? No. There is a deep-seated contempt for capitalism at the BBC and every time it gets a story like this one, it paints the business people involved as parasites. In fact, when one considers the £3.5BILLION the BBC gets each year, it is clear that it is the BBC which is the biggest and most bloated parasite of all.

WRAP UP WARM….

Good news for pensioners. We may be leaving summer behind and the days turn that little bit colder but why not just put on an extra jumper and turn the heating down! It might mean that you save the planet. Here is a treat for connoisseurs of global warming alarmism; It’s Roger “the science is settled” Harrabin talking to McDoom’s new energy adviser Prof David McKay. At one point during the interview, McKay berates the public for refusing to accept the need for change and then he makes the suggestion we should turn the thermostat down and wear more clothing. He suggests that “industrialising the countryside” is an option we may need to be looking at, in fact he suggests many things other than the blooming obvious – follow the example of the French and built new nuclear power stations. From week to week, this eco-quackery goes largely unchallenged as the BBC provides a bully pulpit for one global warming alarmist after another. It is a sustained bias.

HALF A BOY AND HALF A GIRL…

I got a bit of flak here from some of the usual suspects when I dared to cast doubt on the sexual identity of Rainbow Nation athletic luminary Caster Semenya. The BBC was keen to echo suggestions that it is … gasp. .. almost racist to suggest that “she” might be a “he”. Comes the news that Sex tests carried out on Caster the world 800 metres champion, show that she is a hermaphrodite, a source close to the case claimed tonight. If the allegation is backed up by the results, the South African may well find herself stripped of her gold medal and banned from racing. Is it cos she is black?

SWINE FLU UPDATE

How interesting. The UK is “tantalisingly” close to winning the battle against swine flu, the chief medical officer says. The BBC trumpets this good news and makes it seem like the Government plan has been an absolute triumph. The idea that this has been all much ado about nothing gets no mention, no alternative opinion. The Government and the NHS has saved our lives – rejoice!

THAT AFGHAN ELECTION

I am no fan of Afghanistan but the relentless attacks from the BBC on the recent election have been staggering. The State Broadcaster has given the allegations from Abdullah Abdullah (Lack of parental creativity?) massive publicity and whilst I carry no candle for Karzai I believe that the BBC is doing everything it can do undermine any sense of progress in this distant land. The fact that there has been fraud and imperfection is not the real news but the BBC is determined to make it so. The meme is that everything we do in Afghanistan is doomed and this sustained campaign to take away any legitimacy from the results is all part of that in my view. Do you agree?

Dead man at the controls.

I cannot justly call this bias, but this headline from the British Broadcasting Corporation is a tad strange:

Obama tackles UK PM on Lockerbie

The BBC obviously thinks that there is a substantial audience out there that knows who Obama is, that knows what Lockerbie refers to, but that would not recognise the name of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Come to think of it, who am I to argue?

DOWNSIZING…

Wonder what you all make of the news The BBC is preparing to drop popular American shows such as Heroes, Mad Men and The Wire as part of a strategic review to combat criticism that it is stifling commercial rivals.

“The corporation said yesterday that it would also consider cuts on each of its television channels and radio stations as part of the review. Sir Michael Lyons, the Chairman of the BBC Trust, said in a letter to licence fee payers that the internal review “may mean the BBC becoming smaller”, adding that the trust wanted “a BBC that is smarter, more efficient and no bigger than it needs to be” Insiders said that the estimated £100 million a year that it spent on buying US shows was a likely target, given how many commercial broadcasters screened American imports. Each of the BBC’s nine television channels and ten national radio stations will be reviewed, although few expect any big casualties.

The alleged Lilliputian ambitions strike me as being not quite as they appear. The monolith still seeks to take OUR cash to fund innate bias.

GRANDMA – WE LOVE YOU…

The BBC introduction grabbed my attention.

“An image of a British grandmother on death row in America is to be put on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square in a plea to save her from execution.”

Read the rest of the report. Fair and impartial? How about a few details on that pesky murder? Nope – just a plinth for BBC faves like Clive Stafford Smith to rant at the US for daring to execute convicted murderers.
