END THE YEAR OPEN THREAD

I am sure that you, like me, were devastated to learn that the BBC’s websites all crashed earlier today. How dreadful to be spared their poison for a short while! Anyway, I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a VERY Happy New Year, thank you all for sticking with this site and making such a massive contribution to it. I wanted to extend a special thank you to Alan for ALL his efforts, without him it would be so much quieter!

As we exit 2015, I can’t honestly say I believe the BBC is any less biased but I can say with some certainly that such bias is picked up by all of you out there and eviscerated as it well deserves to be.

My very best to you all and here’s to exposing MORE rancid bias in 2016. My axe is sharpened.

Blair blames spate of murders on black culture

Tony Blair yesterday claimed the spate of knife and gun murders in London was not being caused by poverty, but a distinctive black culture. His remarks angered community leaders, who accused him of ignorance and failing to provide support for black-led efforts to tackle the problem.

One accused him of misunderstanding the advice he had been given on the issue at a Downing Street summit.

Black community leaders reacted after Mr Blair said the recent violence should not be treated as part of a general crime wave, but as specific to black youth. He said people had to drop their political correctness and recognise that the violence would not be stopped “by pretending it is not young black kids doing it”.

Oliver Letwin is in Labour’s sights as they martial all the indignant outrage they can muster and bluster…the BBC giving them every chance to pillory Letwin as a racist.

Right from the off the BBC deliberately misled people as to what Letwin actually said.  Justin Webb on the Today programme(07:09) stated that Letwin ‘believed that black Britons had bad moral attitudes’….implying Letwin thought all black Britons had bad moral problems.  The BBC news and various programmes that followed up on this ‘important’ story  about a small memo from 1985 all took the same narrative and chose not to tell us what Letwin actually said in full….which is…

“The root of social malaise is not poor housing, or youth ‘alienation’, or the lack of a middle class.  Lower-class, unemployed white people lived for years in appalling slums without a breakdown of public order on anything like the present scale; in the midst of the depression, people in Brixton went out, leaving their grocery money in a bag at the front door, and expecting to see groceries there when they got back.

“Riots, criminality and social disintegration are caused solely by individual characters and attitudes. So long as bad moral attitudes remain, all efforts to improve the inner cities will founder.”

Did Letwin casually assert that the whole Black community was predisposed to be criminals due to their inherent bad moral attitudes?  No he didn’t.  You don’t have to read that at all carefully to see exactly what he meant….I’m sure the many English graduates with gainful employment at the BBC can explain what ‘individual’ means…..seems some just don’t want to know what Letwin actually said….nor were they at all bothered about mentioning PC Keith Blakelock, beaten and stabbed 40 times, almost beheaded by Black rioters as they shouted ‘kill the pig’, nor did the BBC bother to mention Labour man Bernie Grant saying the police got ‘a bloody good hiding’.  Curious how unbalanced the BBC can be, dodging the inconvenient ‘context’ that might distract from their own narrative.

All Letwin said was that certain individuals who commit these crimes or who riot do so because they, individually, have bad moral attitudes…he did not make a broad, sweeping statement condemning the whole Black community.

When Lammy, Watson, Umunna and Phillips and all the rest assert he was wrong are they saying that the criminals and rioters were morally right to be acting in that way?  It does look that way.

The BBC quoted Trevor Phillips all day telling us he thought Letwin’s words were outrageous and racist and that basically all white people thought like that back in 1985.  Trouble is Phillips, whilst saying that the comments were outrageous, [no, they weren’t…see above] actually went on to say he wasn’t interested in dragging over something from 30 years ago when Letwin, whom he knew well, didn’t have such an attitude now.  Justin Webb ignored that and demanded to know if Phillips thought Letwin should resign…clearly not understanding a word Phillips had said, or blatantly ignoring it in the hunt for a Tory scalp.

And anyway….this is a Labour attack….desperate as they are to fling mud at the Tories after being nailed as Terrorist sympathisers.  Shame the BBC didn’t spend half as much time on the allegations against Labour as they do with Letwin.

Let’s look back at some Labour history on race and culture….Jack Straw in 2007…

Gang crime ‘due to absent dads’

The “continuing problem” of gang violence is due to the absence of fathers in black communities, Justice Secretary Jack Straw says.

He said young black men needed their fathers as role models, otherwise their development suffered.

He was responding to US civil rights activist Jesse Jackson who said inner city violence was an economic problem.

“Gang violence is rooted in the economics of desperation,” said Rev Jackson, adding that some people were “profiting” from providing guns to deprived areas.

But Mr Straw, speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, said the problem was not due to economics.

“One of the striking things is the difference between the attitude and the success in life of black girls from exactly the same backgrounds compared to black boys.”

Black girls perform around the average at Key Stage 4, aged 16, compared to the overall population, he said.

‘Lads need dads’

“Black boys go backwards when they get to secondary school.

“It’s a cultural problem. It’s the absence of fathers who are actively involved in parenting.

So Straw is making the very same claims that Labour are now trying to claim Letwin was making…..crime was due to cultural factors in the Black community….oh and look who else was talking the same talk….

And last March Commission for Racial Equality chairman Trevor Phillips implied some absent fathers were partially to blame for the under-achievement of black boys at school.

Barnardo’s spokesman Errol John said the Babyfather Initiative acknowledged there were problems to be tackled.

“Some black men aren’t playing as full a role in their children’s lives as they should be.

“That’s an issue we don’t shy away from when talking to communities, along with the political stuff that needs addressing,” he said.

And again…

Mr Phillips said a lack of self-esteem and positive role models for black boys also compounded the problem, as well as an attitude that being clever is not cool.

“If the only way to break through the wall of attitude that surrounds black boys is to teach them separately in some classes, then we should be ready for that,” he said.

Phillips laid into multi-culturalism and the cultures that produce criminals and terrorists…..

Because I had made it my business to spend part of each week in a community outside London, I already knew some groups were becoming so isolated that values and ideas which most people would find alien were tolerated and even encouraged.

And I saw a looming danger that these communities were steadily shrinking in on themselves, trapping young people behind walls of tradition and deference to elders.

Of course none of this was secret. But anyone who pointed the finger could expect to be denounced for not respecting diversity.

Our desperation to avoid offence is itself beginning to stand in the way of progress. And all too often the losers are minority Britons.

If African Caribbeans are statistically more likely to commit some kinds of crime than other people, as indeed they are — we are especially proficient at murdering other African Caribbeans, for example — it might make some sense to understand why, so we can stop it happening.

Even the Guardian’s Michael White backed Phillips whilst others tried to silence him for saying we were sleepwalking into segregation….

Trevor Phillips says the unsayable about race and multiculturalism

Petty crime patterns, high exam performance and levels of affluence are usually taboo if they threaten to carry a racial dimension: stereotyping is the usual complaint and, of course, it has some merit. Only some. Even a word of out place – think Benedict Cumberbatch’s well-meant remarks about the shortage of “coloured” actors – can raise a media mini-storm, though colour is again being used in the US to embrace all sorts of non-white ethnic groups.

Seems to me that there is a huge amount of hypocrisy around Letwin’s comments and not a little political opportunism.  The BBC has indulged itself and gone on the attack instead of doing its job and sifted out the sanctimony, hubris and moral grandstanding as well as the far more dangerous attempt to stir up race conflict…something the BBC itself specialises in.  Phillips has let himself down and made some cheap comments playing to the baying mob attacking Letwin whilst admitting Letwin doesn’t actually have an attitude like that, and Phillips says he knows him well.

Bear Faced Lies

This isn’t directly about a BBC programme….well maybe it’s in line with Harrabin’s programme of climate change indoctrination as it illustrates the propaganda that is being manufactured by the climate change lobby in order to fool us into believing their narrative….using ‘evidence’ that isn’t evidence at all.  The planet may be warming but the below is not evidence of man-made global warming, just a continuation of a trend that has been happening for hundreds of years.

The Exit Glacier in Alaska has become a poster child for the the climate change alarmists…Bear Grylls escorted Obama around the climate change crime scene in order to scaremonger about the supposed dangers of climate change.

This was a specifically designed programme to illustrate the threat from climate change as evidenced by the ‘retreat’ of the Exit glacier, Obama saying ‘It underscores why it is so important to pay attention to climate change.’

Bear Grylls told us that ‘this[ice] will go and if it goes it won’t come back’.

Unfortunately that is just so much self-serving nonsense and underscores the importance of not paying attention to celebrities and politicians who are flogging you something…..the trend may be a retreat but the glacier can grow again……

At two of the six sites — the highest-elevation sites monitored by the Park Service — some of last winter’s snowfall was retained, according to the data.

That has been the general pattern so far, said Deborah Kurtz, a Park Service scientist who is coordinating the Kenai Fjords glacier-monitoring project. “At lower sites, we are seeking overall melt, or ablation,” she said. “The melt is usually greater than the accumulation.”

But there is great variation between years and specific sites, Kurtz said.

Two of the past five years’ measurements showed a gain in mass — more accumulation than melt — one year’s measurements showed no change and measurements in the past two years showed a net loss, with more melt than accumulation.

The ice loss was biggest in 2013, a particularly warm year, Kurtz said. The past year was not quite as warm, and there was significant high-altitude snowfall in October and December that contributed to the icefield mass, she said.

The Exit Glacier has been retreating and reforming for thousands of years….growing or shrinking yearly….the trend since the end of the Little Ice age has been a slow retreat overall….

From 1815 to 1999, Exit Glacier retreated at an average rate of 43 feet a year, though at widely varying rates, according to a Park Service analysis. Since then, retreat has continued at an uneven pace. The average annual retreat between 1973 and 2013 was a little over 30 feet or 9.2 meters, according to Park Service records.

So for nearly two centuries the retreat has been averaging 43 feet per year, then during the period of man-made global warming it only managed 30 feet per year until last year when it managed 187 feet in one year…

At Exit Glacier, a major Alaska tourism attraction, the terminus retreated 187 feet in the past year, according to measurements taken last month. About 80 percent of that retreat happened during the summer, according to the Park Service measurements.

You will say…whoaa, 187 feet in one year!!!…climate change!….the world’s obviously boiling…..hold your horses though…..check this out…

image

So from 1894 to 1899 the retreat was…em…that magical and terrible 187 feet per year…oh, look….in 1914 to 1917 it was 302 feet per year.  Is 302 more than 187?  I think it could be.

So in a period when climate change, man-made, wasn’t happening the glacier was retreating at the same or faster rate than at present in our climate alarming scenario…..which needs ‘fixing’ at great cost.

Not saying someone is lying to us about climate change but you might interpet it that way.

Oh yes….don’t forget the medieval forest uncovered by the ice retreat…

Retreating Alaskan Glacier Reveals Remains Of Medieval Forest

A medieval forest under the ice?  Wouldn’t that indicate that the planet was a lot warmer in Medieval times before ‘man-made’ climate change?…and if so what made it so warm if it wasn’t CO2 belching from our factories, cars and chimneys?

Is this climate change or just climate?

Could it be that what made it warm in Medieval times is the same thing that makes it warm now?

MRS CLEGG’S TODAY

Mrs Nick Clegg aka Miriam González Durántez was the “Guest Editor” on the Today programme this morning and what a steaming pile of biased claptrap she served up. I awoke to a report just after 6.30am to inform me that Hillary Clinton is the ONLY candidate worth considering in the US Presidential election care of some militant feminist. I was then advised that Oliver Letwin is “in trouble” over some comments he made back in….1985. Yes, Today really is topical. Then, we moved on to the importance of Immigration and Mrs Clegg has this as her key theme for Today. We really NEED to appreciate the virtues of immigration was drummed into our thick heads. No mention of the questionable  merits of mass Somali, Eritrean, Sudanese immigrants. It droned on and on, a complete raving Left-fest. During this period of Holiday, the Today programme throws aside any pretence of balance and just indulges its hateful anti-British agenda. It reminds me WHY we need the likes of this site to hold it to account.

RACE-BAITING TODAY STYLE

BBC and Labour in full cry this morning using the words of Oliver Letwin from 1985 to try and smear the Conservatives, past and present. Chuka Umunna was allowed a gentle canter around the BBC race baiting paddock, casually suggesting it was RACIST of Letwin to question the morality of some of those who, as I recall, beheaded PC Keith Blakelock at Broadwater Farm. This pesky detail, along with the horrendous violence carried out by (black) gangs at that time seems to have been lost amongst the smug satisfaction on display this morning. Playing the race card is perhaps the favourite tactic of the immoral left, in this case to try and excuse the inexcusable violence of that time. Letwin has done as required and apologised but I wish he wouldn’t as it only encourages the BBC to keep pushing this toxic race agenda.

Breaking The Silence

‘You kids don’t know nothing – Islam will take over, there will be mosques everywhere, you must think of your after-life – not this life. Kaffirs will burn in the fire of hell.’

‘The extremists have had over twenty five uncontested years to mobilise the minds of British Muslims and their backwardness now dominates some areas. ‘

Katie Hopkins talks about the radicalisation of the Muslim community and the wilful blindness of politicians…

A brave Muslim tried to warn us this week about the extremists taking over his community. What a tragedy it is that our PC politicians would rather not know

Ali, who phoned in on Monday, is a third-generation Muslim in England, and has watched his Muslim community transform from complete integration with other Brits, to almost utter separation.

He is now too uncertain of elements within his own community to be able to speak out about his fears of extremists and radicalised Muslims, no longer sure who is friend or foe, who is British at heart and who is loyal to another ideology or country.

A subject we have looked at before in relation to the BBC’s own wilful blindness and indeed its determined attempts to deny such things and to portray islam as a wonderful, tolerant and peaceful ideology.

Here is, again, some of the material we looked at…from a Pakistani Muslim, Gina Khan……from 2007 and 2009…

Reading Ayaan Hirsi Ali in Birmingham

As a young child and teenager I grew up in an area where the majority was English but there were also Greeks, Chinese, Jamaicans and Indians living in the same community. Everybody got on and respected each other. My parents ran supermarkets, so we were integrated, if not allowed to assimilate as females because of the religion. And now the white people are leaving, the area has disintegrated, and it breaks my heart. Most members of my family have moved out.

The area has been Islamised. Mosques, mini-mosques and madrasas rise up on almost every street corner, but there is nothing for the youth. Drugs and crime has made the area unsafe for young girls. Social services and the police know what is going on. I have witnessed anti-west and anti-Jew posters and leaflets appear in shops run by young bearded Muslims. I watched the Islamists mobilise the Muslim community right under my nose. Before 9/11 the time I could not name it, but I knew something was not right, but it was being done in the name of Islam.

I left because there was no way I was going to raise my children as a lone mother in a community where the Imams or mosques did nothing to serve the community or teach a plural Islam. Even the schools were allowing little primary school girls to wear headscarves, and that has nothing to do with religion. The extremists have had over twenty five uncontested years to mobilise the minds of British Muslims and their backwardness now dominates some areas.

Multicultural polices are not working…

Gina Khan on Breaking the Silence

Being a British Asian woman from a Pakistani ethnic background, a Muslim, the atrocities commited in the name of Islam effected me profoundly. Being a Pakistani had its own stigmas – being female meant being treated as sub-human in relation to the Muslim man. I can see how the ideology works – half the ideology is about oppressing Muslim women. That’s evident when you note that the first thing Islamists do is reverse the rights and freedom of Muslim women, when they do manage to create an Islamic state, as in Afganistan or Iran. I wasn’t going to participate in my own oppression!

I have lived within the Muslim community in Birmingham. I’m a born and bred brummie, I had been speaking out for a while. I had been writing to a lot of people hoping someone would want to focus on the truth. I knew what I knew and didn’t want to forever remain silent at any cost.

We are engaged in a protracted and widely dispersed war at the Jihadists’ discretion, which I knew had been going on before 9/11; our goverment was in denial…and still is. My insight has been through personal experiences and those of people around me.

My father was indoctrinated with this ideology in the early 1980s…Dad would say ‘you kids don’t know nothing – Islam will take over, there will be mosques everywhere, you must think of your after-life – not this life. Kaffirs will burn in the fire of hell.’

His words would frighten me, and I had no reason to doubt his words of wisdom as he was reading the Quran and attending mosques where pious religious mullahs gave sermons about the Quran. He was becoming anti-Jewish, even though he had never met a Jewish person in his whole life. He was becoming anti-west although he never actually went back to live and retire in Pakistan until mum died.

Now in hindsight I realise he was brainwashed into an ideology – by the same mosques and mullahs in Birmingham that preach tenets of Jihadism. Pensioners as well as the young get indoctrinated. Dad had become colder and more disconnected the more religious he became.

In 1996 I remember seeing flyers and posters advocating meetings for Muslims to talk about Jihad – a call for the ‘umma’ and anti-west propaganda…in a chip shop in Ward End run by mullahs. I remember thinking: why haven’t the police arrested these guys?

When the horrendous events of 9/11 happened , I remember thinking ‘oh my God, they have started to attack the West’. I was gripped in fear…and I understood who the enemy was. I was shocked when I realised that Western governments didn’t know who the enemy was.

I remained silent for most of my life but I was seething with anger at Islamists…how did this goverment not sense what was coming, while many at the grassroots level could sense it ? Remaining silent wasn’t an option for me any more, especially when more Jihadists were being discovered and named locally. Many mujahideens were known to people who had gone off to fight in Jihad in Bosnia. One of the Jihadists who was arrested in Birmingham in February was a friend’s brother. A local British-born Pakistani lad in the armed forces had been killed in action in Afganistan, and I couldn’t believe they wanted to behead someone in the armed forces just to instill fear in us all.

In search of my religion I had also picked up books translated in English from the same bookshops that were raided. I had been a victim of domestic violence…the beating of women authorised in Islamic books and political Islam theories put my faith in turmoil. I’m pleased that other Muslim people are speaking out.

I have stated to many that this war will last at least 25 to 30 years. Prime Minister Brown, just like Mr Blair, won’t use the word ‘Jihad’ – they mention the ideology but never define it to their people, which I believe is counter-productive. Muslims themselves have to understand the concept and reasons behind the ideology, and it isn’t just because of foriegn policy; this ideology was being implemented long before the Iraq or Afganistan war. The only way to really understand the enemy and what Jihad means, is to understand the historical roots of Jihad, intertwined with the history of Muslim women and their struggle to be emancipated.

The real clash is between modern 21st century Muslims living in the present and backward-thinking Muslims with the mindset of the 7th century.

The goverment had until recently engaged and somewhat funded the MCB. In my eyes they are Islamists, they are Jihadists’ mentors.
They are not the voice of British-born Muslims or British Islam. Inayat Bunglawala gets on my nerves…everytime he makes a statement to the press, I wish he’d put a sock in it.

Initially Inayat Bungalawala had supported Osama bin Ladin, calling him a ‘freedom fighter’ in 2001; he supported Wahhabi Clerics and Hamas leaders, and currently these men want a new law so that banning religious discrimination can be implemented – which could shut down debates about Islam.

I know that I will have ‘issues’ if I’m critical of my religion and the supremacist attitude that govern us all currently…..

but what the heck, Islamists disrespect our logical reasoning and humanity every day. I have a right to my full humanity…I do not believe that whoever created me wanted me or any other woman to walk out of the front door with half the IQ He blessed us with, no one could suppress/oppress me or shut me up again – ask my ex-husband. I don’t want my daughter to have my life…I intend to set her free as a full human being, one day. She was born in a free country. She can write her own life script.

In the mean time I will continue to fight this mentality and backward mindset – I will exercise my freedom of opinion and debate…that’s what democracy is all about isn’t it?

Good luck with that if you rely on the BBC to support you…the same BBC that loves the veil and promotes the conversion of women to Islam….on ‘Woman’s Hour’ of all places.

Yasmin Alibhai-Brown: Who’d be female under Islamic law?  In Muslim states, violence against women is validated. A dark age is upon us.

The Talibanisation of British childhood by hardline parents  ‘I have met Muslim lawyers and academics who have turned to Taliban-style beliefs’…

Make no mistake, Taliban devotees are in our schools, playgrounds, homes, mosques, political parties, public service, private firms and universities.

And if we are to have any hope of combating them, we need to stop this attitude of appeasement and understand why so many Muslims are attracted to the most punishing forms of belief, suppressing women and children.

Eye-watering amounts of Saudi money goes into promoting Wahhabism.

They fund mosques, religious-schools, imams, conferences and trips to Saudi Arabia.

They are our wealthy allies and so are never questioned or stopped.

Free-thinking Muslims have lacked courage to oppose what is going on, while politicians do nothing for cynical reasons – best, they think, not to antagonise possible voters.

Meanwhile, the liberal position is to let people be and do what they wish within the law. Liberals tolerate the intolerable because they don’t have to live with the consequences. Yet the problem is in part caused by liberal values.

To me, that hands-off approach makes no sense.

Why are we fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan and indulging Taliban values here?

Even if it offends liberal principles, the powerful must find a way of stopping Islamicists from promulgating their distorted creed.

If they don’t, the future is bleak for Muslims and the country. Many of us British Muslims care deeply about both.

Storm in a teacup

The BBC has been pushing the narrative that the floods are due to climate change….warmer weather leads to more water in the atmosphere and more rain they tell us….Harrabin told us that it would lead to more intense rainfall rather than prolonged wet weather.

Does the BBC use science or reading the tea leaves to predict the climate because the BBC itself tells us that water vapour hasn’t increased

The most important of these greenhouse gases in terms of its contribution to warming is water vapour, but concentrations show little change and it persists in the atmosphere for only a few days.

Anyway….apparently climate change doesn’t lead to warmer wetter winters…..who says so?  The Met. Office…

Met Office: Arctic sea-ice loss linked to colder, drier UK winters

The reduction in Arctic sea ice caused by climate change is playing a role in the UK’s recent colder and drier winter weather, according to the Met Office.

Colder, dryer winters due to climate change….who knew?

Or how about this from the Met. Office…

Three summers (2012, 2011, 2007) have seen the triple ‘disappointment’ of having below average temperatures, below average sunshine, and above average rainfall.

So low temperatures, below average sunshine…and above average rain…..sounds the opposite to warm weather producing more rain doesn’t it?

Direct from the Met. Office:   ‘There’s currently no evidence to suggest that the UK is increasing in storminess.’

Somebody’s lying through their teeth.

Winners and losers

Sir Bradley Wiggins was the guest editor on the Today programme on Tuesday….the BBC can certainly pick ’em.

Wiggins wanted to know more about cycling and politicians…or so we were told.  First we had a couple of minutes insulting the cycling Boris [potential next Tory leader] as sweaty and smelly because he rides his bike wearing a suit, goshdarnit!

Nick Robinson suggested this demonstrated the BBC’s impartiality…as the programme turned to an interview with Jeremy Corbyn.  As it happened this interview actually had very little to do with bikes or cycyling, that just being an excuse for Wiggins to get his favourite politician on the radio in an interview designed, it seemed, to ‘personalise’ Corbyn and make him seem a lovely little chap…curious how that every time I hear Corbyn I get the creeps…..he is a fanatic desperately trying to suppress the fact that he is a fanatic and this ‘interview’ was meant to help with that lie.

Wiggins said he wasn’t interested in politics and was ‘disengaged’….curious that ‘when Gordon Brown was PM, he met ‘Le Wiggo’ at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. According to one witness, Wiggins told Brown: ‘I know you aren’t too popular right now, mate, but I hope you beat those Tories in the Election.’’

Sounds familiar.

The BBC must be surprised at the turn of events and that yet another of its guest editors turns out to be a socialist.

“MANY CHILDREN”

BBC radio 4 today was busy this morning running another propaganda piece of behalf of “refugees”. Around 6.45am there was an item that told us “many” of the “Syrian” refugees were children and it told us the story of one “child” who desperately wanted to get to Finland. He has no idea where Finland was, of course, he just wanted to get there and that was good enough for the BBC.

Makes me wonder WHY the BBC choose to ignore these two relevant facts?

  1. UNHCR data confirms it: 75% of the so-called refugees arriving in Europe are MEN.
  2. Four out of five migrants are NOT from Syria

In partial mitigation, the “child” refugee was from Somalia. Via Syria?
