Archbishop of Canterbury withdraws award from Muslim cleric who praised Osama bin Laden
The Archbishop of Canterbury has withdrawn an award given to a Muslim cleric who praised Osama Bin Laden.
Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi received the award for reconciliation and interfaith cooperation from Dame Sarah Mullally last week, on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Lambeth Palace faced a backlash after it emerged Ashrafi praised Bin Laden – the architect of the 2001 attacks – as someone who had “been fighting for Islam against the Russians, Americans and British”, in comments from 2007.
Ashrafi also reportedly said he would give Bin Laden the title Saifullah, which means “Sword of God”. He told the BBC his remarks had been “totally taken out of context”.

So good of the BBC to give him an exit.

    BBC headline…..misses out important information….

‘Man, 29, jailed for raping two 14-year-old girls’

That ‘man’ would be an Afghan asylum seeker.

and even when they admit part of the problem….

‘Sultani Bakatash, 29, an Afghan, met one of the girls on Snapchat before inviting her and her friend to his home in Georgina Court, Bolton, Greater Manchester, on 6 December.’

…they forget to tell you he is an asylum seeker.

And even when they tell us more, way way down the report, they still don’t use the words ‘asylum seeker’….almost like they are trying to hide something…

‘The court heard he had been in the UK for two years and had indefinite leave to remain, with his mother, two brothers and two sisters also lived in the country.’

Just came here on holiday did he? And isn’t it great that one in means another 5 in as well.

Just because he was an interpreter for the Brits in Afghan doesn’t mean he should be here….for a start they were never trustworthy and people quickly learnt not to tell them anything or tell them where or when an operation was going to happen.

And why would the BBC want to downplay his asylum seeker status when right now that is a red hot topic and central to the arguments raging and inciting protests across the country?

The scabrous dead hand of any bBC ‘investigation’ usually causes someone somewhere more harm than good…

Then, when the subject has either topped themselves, or been forced out of their homes, the beeboids can all scamper around with a new ’empathy story’, and carry on with their ridiculous ‘reporting’ for the idiots who believe them.

But when it comes to illegals raping and stabbing, somehow, they ‘forget’ so much detail and hope nobody notices!

Perhaps they could start to go after Ginge and Minge, and then make them bugger off back to the US, then we’d all get some peace and quiet.

    Victim-survivor edition

(One always enjoys highlighting some unusual new media coining)

Let’s take a leaf out of the old Independent broadsheet playbook – a paper which promised never to put any gossipy tittle-tattle soap opera-ish Royal stories on its cover page.

Sadly, that promise was like piecrust – easily broken. And we note how the physical manifestation of the low-circulation Indy is no more – there’s just a virtual online-only left-leaning ghost of a title that remains for our BBC to summon to its otherwise strictly print invitees-only daily newspaper seance.

BoE warns of higher rates ahead to tackle rising inflation – warns the Financial Times – and yet it’s far from all doom and gloom for the pink corporate globalist denizens of nowhere…

Star power – is the optimistic caption to the FT’s pin-up feature front page photo. It’s a bit of an overworked cliché for a press snapper to catch a favoured politician at an EU press conference against the star spangled blue backdrop and appear to reward her or him with an EU starry halo – but it’s so on-message today that the FT just couldn’t resist.

Carney addresses EU after Trump vents anger over Canadian partnership drive (FT) – The grinning former failed Bank of England boss, with a name reminiscent of an itinerant jobbing circus worker, is of course the ultimate FT poster boy.

A harbinger of the day when the international market in footloose supranationalist top civil servants and prime ministers enables them to be traded, hired and fired… and rehired with the rapidity and merry disregard for locality of our Premier League soccer managers. Or was that Rishi Sunak? Apparently Keir Starmer has now issued his come and get me to Nato or some such. And who could forget David Miliband’s pioneering international job-hopping work in this regard.

Having just likened our identi-kit left-leaning globalist managerial (often ineptly failing) elites to top football club mangers: Klopp wants to ‘reclaim’ flag amid German elections… was Liverpool manager from 2015 to 2024… New Germany coach… says his team can help ensure “national pride is not entrusted to the wrong people” after a recent far-right election victory. (Ben Collins, BBC Sport journalist – moonlighting as a politics commentator) – our Jurgen won’t need the EU stars for a halo – not with those famously sparkly choppers of his. Seems the days of Mutti Merkel getting embarrassed by the old red gold and black flag are to be sidelined from our memories. One senses we have Mr Putin to thank for that. As regular readers will recall Mr AsI trusts no nation with black in their flag.

The NHS has been getting some bad press lately. What with the Lucy Letby case and now: Twenty women had breasts removed needlessly, says NHS trust… Pam and other women describe how they were failed (Sharon Barbour, North East & Cumbria health correspondent, Victoria Archer, BBC Local Investigations and Ben Milne – the BBC wimmin’s issues crowd tag-teaming it there)

So, inevitably, the government scrabbles about for some positive if half-hearted NHS announcement – one had almost forgotten Mrs Ed Balls the pixie-looking superboy was our health secretary: New dementia drug could become available on NHS – our hypochondriacal left-leaning i paper is pleased to announce: Health Secretary will ‘look at’ breakthrough treatments

Likewise our BBC are running good news NHS stories: ‘I can get more time – that’s everything’: Breast cancer patient finds out she can get life extending drug… can now access a life-extending drug on the NHS. (BBC) – and to think just last week we were all about the assisted dying bill.

    Apologetics

‘My mother apologised’: A survivor’s journey after genital mutilation… grew up in Sudan but moved to Birmingham, England, in 2022 after marrying a bus driver from the city… realised she was a victim-survivor of Female Genital Mutiliation [sic] (FGM), a procedure she had endured as a young girl. (Amy Cole, BBC, West Midlands) – nothing to worry about there then. [spelling slip is the BBC’s]

There goes the BBC’s wimmin’s issues tendency running them into some dodgy off-message agenda spoiling territory again. First it was criticising our duff NHS and now it’s imported barbaric foreign cultural practices.

BBC going large on the alleged Putney Pusher’s innocence.

Sisters claim had withered leg, prominent tattoo and ‘apparently the victim said the man had brown eyes’…and an email which timewise supposedly puts him in the clear.

Photo of Nicholas Brandram doesn’t show a noticeably withered leg but clearly shows someone who keeps very fit.
The tattoo is on the inside of his forearm and so not ‘prominent’.
He has blue eyes but I’ve not seen any witness statement saying he had brown eyes.
The email may be a get of of jail card.

But you have to admit the CCTV images do look like Brandram….and he is an evil banker so….

The police found class A and B drugs at his home when they searched it.
Brandram was found guilty of a hit and run in 2013 when he knocked a cyclist off their bike when on his own motorbike.

Can’t see how the police are at fault here…they are duty bound to investigate and this was a hugely prominent story where a woman was nearly killed. What are the BBC suggesting…that police don’t investigate anybody just in case their mental health deteriorates and they end it all? Doesn’t stop the BBC hounding certain people quite relentlessly…if they are right-wing and white.

A Rotten Tale of our Times

Many years ago a company called Avery manufactured weighing machines in the heart of Cambridge overlooking Parker’s Piece. The company closed down, not least because an EU directive insisted that the weighing machines should display the weight in metric units.

Fast forward a few years and the building had been repurposed into a pub called The Avery. It was from here that a young woman Sally Geeson (22) left in the early hours of New Year’s Day 2005. She was abducted off the street into a car and murdered by a stranger not far away at Madingley.

Cambridge has not carried out routine police foot patrols for some time. I lived in the city centre from 1981 for many years and once saw a walking police officer on Gwydir Street. I told this officer that this was such a rare sight that I should have taken his picture.

Fast forward some more years and the same pub had been renamed the Hop and Grain. One afternoon this pub was suddenly invaded by 20 police officers complete with video camera officers. This was on a day that Luton were playing Cambridge FC in Cambridge. In the bar upstairs, Tommy Robinson had been peacefully drinking with his daughters and some friends. The head of security at that pub made a point of telling the police that Robinson had been in the pub all afternoon and had been “no trouble”. A video of her telling the police this could be seen on the internet at the time.

Despite the pleas of the pub’s head of security the police set about issuing Tommy Robinson with his young daughters a section 35 dispersal notice. In particular a sergeant could be seen in the video acting very aggressively towards Tommy Robinson. Most fairminded observers (and I am not a fan of past British football supporter behaviour) would view this as disproportionate. In the video taken by Robinson the daughters could be heard crying and were obviously highly distressed.

Quite understandably Robinson took the Cambridgeshire police to court for harassment. I went to this court case in Peterborough. I was enraged at how 20 police officers could turn up to a manufactured incident and at the same time none of them were available to protect a young woman from being murdered leaving the same pub. In the court I observed a group of bored men with looks that say: why am I wasting my time sitting here all day. They were the police. There was one exception: a police officer looking around the room aggressively at the members of the audience. This man was Sergeant Paul Street, the same officer who had acted so aggressively to set up the original incident.

Why am I so critical of this female judge hearing the case – who found the police acted lawfully? In my view there were obvious lies being told by the police. Their video cameraman had conveniently mislaid video footage. Sergeant Street did not know who Robinson was. The judge needs to understand that by greenlighting malicious persecution of Robinson for no reason, it then takes police resources away from preventing young women being abducted off the street and murdered.

Was Sergeant Paul Street following orders from higher officers to persecute Robinson to gain promotion or was he just a lone rotten-apple gone rogue? Fast forward to today and an article from the Cambridge News Sept 17 page 8 :

Disgraced police officer jailed after being found guilty of misconduct

    Also see:
    https://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/local-news/celebrity-ex-cambridgeshire-police-officer-34626493.amp

Yep, it was the same officer as in the Hop and Grain pub:

Sergeant Paul Street served the section 35 dispersal order.
    Officer: Sergeant Paul Street
    Date: August 27, 2016
Location: Grain and Hop Store pub, Cambridge
Context: Served during a legal challenge heard at Peterborough County Court, where the officer testified that he was unaware of Tommy Robinson’s identity at the time of the incident.

This raises the question of a rotten apple or a rotten Cambridgeshire police force? You decide.

    Justice, Not War, For IranPolicy
Proposed by Raeeka Yassaie · 9 pages · 55 supporters

Iranian civilians have long resisted repression of the Islamic Republic. USA and Israel’s unlawful war cannot obscure the struggle for national liberation waged by the people against the state. Motion calls for Party to support Iranian civilians, within constraints of non-interference, and dismantle pretence of war as human rights intervention.

Unserious people in government intent on virtue signalling and pleasuring themselves.

Tim Shipman in The Spectator, Burnham and Miliband “ignored the advice they were given”, which was to wait until after the Israeli elections in October. Simon Walters, the British ambassador in Tel Aviv and a former Foreign Office director of national security for the Middle East, gave them a “very explicit” warning not to rush, as did widely respected National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell. The point is obvious: Miliband wants to see the back of Benjamin Netanyahu and the far-right radicals in his coalition. But as he was repeatedly told by those who know, any intervention before polling day would inevitably be weaponised by precisely those unsavoury elements to shore up support. Miliband went ahead anyway.

Blink and it’s gone….the story about the new female Archbishop of Canterbury cosying up to an Islamist…the BBC, lol Aleem Maqbool, did a pretty short report yesterday and it’s gone…as good as…try and find it. Had to google it as it’s tucked far far away from prying eyes….

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckr50lrz5e6zo

I’m guessing the BBC doesn’t want you to think Muslim clerics are fanatical zealots or that a female Church of England Bishop is incredibly naive if not stupid….not that the males are any better.

But I don’t see what the problem is….King Charles has pandered to extremist Muslims all his adult life…the government shapes its policies to suit Muslim extremists in Britain…and the BBC wondered what is so bad about Britain that it drove ‘young British Muslims’ to sacrifice themselves on 7/7.

And of course there’s our very own Muslim Home Secretary whose credentials and loyalties might be called into question especially as she cracks down on White Christian protestors in a way she never would with Muslim or pro-Gaza ones…History Debunked has it’s opinion….

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvj64w204y58o

“Until last year, Conroy, 32, and his partner Amber, 28, saw little prospect of owning their own home. They were renting in central Manchester where they work and could not afford to save up for a deposit.

Then they came across a relatively niche, and some experts say riskier, type of mortgage that offered a solution.

The Track Record mortgage from Skipton Building Society covers 100% of the value of a property, with the borrower paying nothing upfront”

They didn’t own their own house last year, and basically still don’t now , with the bank holding almost all the equity.

What could go wrong? Skipton might as well throw in self certification, and hope the interest rates don’t rise and the property market doesn’t correct.

Let’s not forget where it mainly started…with those few thousand Romanians Labour told us would flood in here….more like 50,000 a year[1 million A8 East Europeans registered by 2010]…and they’re still at the pickpocketing…

‘In 2025 and 2026, London continues to face significant challenges with organized pickpocketing networks, several of which have been identified by authorities and community groups as originating from Eastern Europe, particularly Romania. London remains the UK’s primary hotspot for street theft, recording over 81,300 “theft from person” offences during the 2025/26 period.’

    Telegraph…

‘Police fire shots into the air and use tear gas in attempt to control the crowds

Thousands of migrants charged through the streets of Ceuta on Friday as police attempted to move them to a new camp.’

    BBC…

‘Police have begun moving hundreds of migrants in Ceuta to a new tented site in the port area of the Spanish territory in north Africa.

Officers struggled to contain crowds of people jostling to secure a place at the site after weeks of living on the beaches. Shots could be heard, with reports that police fired into the air.’

A bit of jostling eh? Wonder why the police were firing shots…oh yeah..and tear gas? Still…mostly peaceful eh?

Why don’t the Spanish just launch them back across to Morocco where they came from? Why don’t we just launch the boat people back to France?…they’re French after all…no documents to prove otherwise.

Just like here the Spanish blame anybody but themselves…

‘Sanchez has blamed trafficking gangs and has also said the crisis was sparked by hoaxes and rumours spread by social media.’

But if you don’t ship ’em back out immediately you’re as bad as the traffickers.

Always laughable[at best] how the BBC tries to downplay anything migrant related…if they report it at all.

Like this…‘Since the migrant influx…’…or maybe….illegal migrant invasion.

I check social media several times a day. My follows are a fair spread; friends, news, interests, some business related.

A few likely skirt near controversial territory. But that’s today. Stuff a decade ago no one would blink at.

I can err, and do share, but tend to follow the maxim ‘if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything’.

That said I have stuck the odd oar in when things look like getting silly. Like I do on X, on most things. A measure of anonymity there. For now.

But seldom if ever with those I do consider friends.

But of all things two and an ongoing bit issues have placed me in a dilemma.

Sydney Sweeney and Ed Sheeran. The ‘bit’ is Trump.

Ironically, I find neither very special in their respective genres. And Trump really isn’t my primary concern here, ever. But obsesses the oddest bunch of folk.

However it has been eyeopening what these folk think is appropriate to blast out on their feeds, on the apparent assumption that everyone agrees with them.

I expect it from all the categories above, bar friends and business, but from them really don’t expect it or want it.

As one who moved in creative and media circles most of my life it is inevitable those I encountered would skew more left. No problem for me.

But… a key issue highlighted by the Sheeran thing is much of the vitriol going his way is because of his avowed neutrality and hence its apparent unacceptability on sacred causes. The left now does not allow even this. You are either for all they hold dear, or the enemy.

Poor doofus has big tour. Invites along some support acts I had mostly never heard of, but fine. One repays the profile op with a political virtue signal about an issue not to do with music, Ed, The UK and Eire or the listening audience of the USA.

And then the complexities of freedoms of all sorts, contracts etc kick in, and as they rumble with possible legal Shakespearanism in the mix, hence given the cause and the rating supporting of big names (well, one) the blob machine on screen kicks in.

If asked, about Syd or Ed, by friends, I’d likely err between unfussed to a tired assuming if typical outrage machine idiocy.

But these two, very rich, possibly nice or possibly not pop culture megastars are now in the crosshairs of some very deranged people.

And the msm is lapping it up. Eliot Carver is alive, well, and not drilling holes in type 42 destroyers any more.

I am posting here because I am something I am worried about. Because what has been fired at me has struck a chord, a bad one; one I cannot agree with. And I really want to say so. Which means not saying anything not nice. Staying… neutral.

So far I am restraining myself, because these are friends. But if they keep this up they will create a world where we can’t be. Their choice.

Seems those who conspired a while ago to sow poisonous seeds in society are going to get exactly what they want.
