The BBC oppose the new rules regarding proof of identity at polling stations.
I can confirm this after listening to an interview conducted by JustRemainin Webb this morning.

He had a real go at his interviewee, unlike anything he ever does to Labour Party members.

But the irony was that his interviewee was from the Electoral Commission who the last time I checked are supposed to be politically independent. So why was Webb having a go at him?

Pretty disgraceful. And needless to say no mention of the other voter fraud issue- so-called postal voting. Which in certain, ahem, communities, is ‘alleged’ to mean block voting by elders.

      Visiting the BBC….

BBC Shows: what ID should I bring with me on the day?
All ticket holders attending shows at all venues must bring valid photo ID in order to gain admittance. If your photo ID does not match the name on the ticket you will not be admitted.

Photo ID must be original and in date (copies and out of date ID won’t be accepted). If you cannot provide this proof you will be refused entry.

      Valid forms of ID are:

      Passport
      Driving licence
      Biometric Residents permit
      Citizen card
      Validate UK ID card
      HM Forces ID card
      Police warrant card
Photographic travel card (eg. Freedom Pass)

Please note that only adults aged 18 or over need to bring ID on the day – it is not required for children under 18, although anyone who looks younger than the specified age limit for a show may be required to show proof of age in order to be admitted.

The Tories bin (temporarily) some of the nonsense and going without the privilege of a Johnson edition

Almost all our national press titles report frontpage this morning on the sad demise of iconic 1960s British fashion designer and upskirting-enabler Mary Quant.

The Mirror frontpage however divides itself between puffing the Grand National and a rail at Karma. Afterall, the Dalai Lama is in the news lately exhibiting some peculiar customs, so why not have a moan about that eastern mystic concept of cause and effect?

Rapist gets his hands on £7m Lotto jackpot (Mirror) – something just feels wrong about that. It’s not fair – the favourite resort of children. Particularly if you subscribe to the semi-religiosity of leftism which aims to kick that old notion of how the Lord or indeed fate or perhaps the market ‘moves in peculiar ways, it’s wonders to perform’

Monster Iorworth Hoare won £7.2million… Sex beast’s life of luxury after victory in legal fight for access to winnings (Mirror) Pity the poor chap lumbered with that name – no wonder he turned out a wrong un.

Perhaps this clamour over Karma apparently getting it wrong is just another signal of the Labour side of our political double act keen to be heard talking a bit tougher on crime than the other side?

One must look up mini-skirts (on the internet) and find out if Mary Quant really did invent it – or was just a: Pioneer (Express)? Because I’m betting it was invented by a bloke.

Speaking or perhaps thinking of looking up short skirts – perhaps our politicians have been having a peek and have just noticed something: As Rishi says 100% of women don’t have a penis – in contrast to Starmer who believes thousands do.. At last a leader who knows what a woman is (Daily Mail) – this is four-foot plus something negligible tall (an ideal vantage point) manlet Sunak boot-licking of Daily Express proportions by the Mail this morning and an easy peasy Tory win for which Labour can only blame themselves.

The left-leaning ‘i’ sounds a cautionary note warning Labour they don’t necessarily have the next General Election in the black sack bin bag: Huge Labour poll lead ‘gone’ as hung parliament grows more likely

The Tories are clearly sweating on the locals due in a couple of weeks and rowing back on just a little of their former nonsense: Tories delay ‘seven recycling bins’ plan over fears of backlash (Telegraph)

Workers need better returns on their pensions, says Chancellor (Telegraph)

One had to smile at the Telegraph’s headline here: Women cannot have a penis, says Sunak – yet another Tory cutback?

A Greek classiscist – the likes of Boris Johnson, perhaps – might here find his mind wandering toward the legend of: Lysistrata who persuades the women of the warring cities to withhold sexual privileges from their husbands and lovers as a means of forcing the men to negotiate peace (thank you Wiki)

Without the privilege of a Johnson (Oooh-er, missus) Mr AsI’s classical studies sadly didn’t progess much beyond Up Pompeii! but Frankie Howerd as Lurcio was a fine teacher.

Afterall our Boris did blame the Ukraine war on Putin’s toxic masculinity. The Ukraine may not be the Peloponnese but perhaps we really do need a latterday Lysistrata to lead our women in a sex strike for peace?

Our nurses are certainly always up for a strike: Unions look set to reject final deal on nurses’ pay… Fresh strikes to be announced this month (Times)

But who we wonder is the female politician able to rise to the stature of a Lysistrata and lead the ladies denying our chaps their war mongering deserts?

We’ve just seen the toothy Kiwi Jacinda Ardern go for early retirement and even the krankie Nicola Sturgeon has we hear hurriedly packed all her baggage into a campervan with a plan to head for the high road.

Voter ID will have zero effect on voter fraud. Postal voting will ensure Labour majorities in many high ethnic city areas. The supervision of the drafting of the electoral roll is woefully inadequate. The only concern seems to be that a return is made by each household. There is absolutely no inquiry into whether the people registered actually exist or whether those people are entitled to vote.

If you were to use the same kind of mathematics that khan is using in London to get 4000 deaths a year caused by traffic pollution, to work out the number of deaths caused by the doctors going on strike for more money, I wonder how many thousands of deaths you could come up with.

When they quote their (starting) pay as (the minimum) of almost £30,000 when they are basically working as an apprentice they should also include the pension payment paid into their pot of around £7000.
They then get an increase after 12 months which is roughly the same as a years pension for the over 70’s

After a few years they are all in the top few percent of the highest earners.
And they want even more money.

There’s a bit of me that wants the strikes to continue – hopefully to diminish the public image of the medical mafia .

Medialand people “Look at me I’m saving the planet and I’m a hero for paying £120 and standing up most of the way from Bristol to Newcastle”

Yeh mate such a hero that you can’t tale a bus that costs £23 and takes 2 hours longer
Or take a 3 hour bus and then a nightbus costing £18 altogether

Presenter @NickSmithITV on Apr 11 (after Easter, but still half term)

£180 to go from Bristol to Newcastle (booked well over a month in advance)
For the privilege of standing most of the way because the train is overbooked
… welcome to modern rail travel in the UK
I could have flown much quicker and cheaper
    – and quite easily could have driven at under half the cost (even with fuel prices as they are)
    – but trying to do the right thing environmentally… quite frustrating really.

I tested Megabus booking 6 weeks in advance
Basically Bristol to London is 3 hours (£4 or £5),
London to Newcastle is 9 hours (£13)
So possible in one day, but since the nightbus is the same price I’d use that

Direct leave Bristol at 5pm arrive Newcastle at midnight £23

Seems to me he’s taking a direct train from Bristol Central to NewC. That takes 5 hours
Even on the train the trick is to go Bristol Parkway via London – NewC is 5 hours and some trains after 9am cost £70
(even if you connect from Bristol central first)
(In London you have to use the tube to get to the Newcastle train)

Water levels in Devon and Cornwall remain under ‘immense pressure’

BBC Radio Cornwall, @BBCSpotlight daily NewsPR show, BBC Radio Devon

A water company said supplies in Devon and Cornwall remained under “immense and increasing pressure”, despite recent rainfall.
South West Water (SWW) said reservoir levels were 17% lower than at the same time last year
… Cornwall’s main reservoir at Colliford is at 60% of its total capacity, according to the SWW’s most recent figures.
A hosepipe ban remains in place for Cornwall and a small part of north Devon.

#1 Why say “A water company said” ?
There is only one water company in the region. Just say SouthWest Water says

    #2 “Colliford is at 60%” that’s a cherrypick
They drain 2 big reservoirs into the smaller 14
And those are at effectively 100% full
The stats link says the system tally is 79.6% full
Since it was about 90% last year it was only 10% down

#3 “reservoir levels were 17% lower than at the same time last year”

Is AFP a BBC TNI partner?

      Fact-Checking Fact-Deprived Fact Checkers

“A funny thing happened on the way to Agence France-Presse’s (AFP) fact check of The Heartland Institute’s Climate at a Glance (CAAG) booklet for teachers and students. They forgot to check any facts”

“As I told the Cowboy State Daily when they interviewed me for an article about AFP’s fact check, “Which fact was checked? They supposedly check facts. I don’t see a single piece of data or evidence where they checked a fact, as opposed to what they think the implication is of those facts we’re trying to get at.”

AFP’s first article did examine eight specific CAAG briefs out of the thirty in the book. In most of those cases, AFP confirmed our facts but added speculation along the lines of, “Yes, data cited in CAAG do show that X is not getting worse, but experts say in the future …” or “… computer models suggest in the future… .”

In short, AFP never disputes the facts we present but instead implies they can be explained away (“lack context”) or some experts dispute what normal people may conclude from the facts (that disaster is not on the way, for example).”

      Seems very DU’h.

    Politics London
    BBC One, 2 April 2023

During a discussion on Ultra Low Emission Zones in London Dr Rushanara Ali MP said that “4000 people a year die because of toxic air”.

This figure was derived from Imperial College research which was commissioned by Transport for London (TfL) and the Greater London Authority (GLA).

It states “In 2019, in Greater London, the equivalent of between 3,600 to 4,100 deaths (61,800 to 70,200 life years lost) were estimated to be attributable to human-made PM2.5 and NO2, considering that health effects exist even at very low levels. This calculation is for deaths from all causes including respiratory, lung cancer and cardiovascular deaths.”

The claim was challenged by the other guest during the discussion and how it had been arrived at, but we accept that we should have offered more context surrounding the figures quoted. There was other context in the programme, and viewers were directed to articles on the BBC website about various claims about ULEZ.

A Tweet including a clip of Dr Ali MP, however, did not provide any useful context for the claim and so was inaccurate and misleading. It has been deleted.

Comment “Brilliant! So well written. I have never been able to adequately put into words the reasons for my anger and frustration and helplessness I have felt for years in the face of the BBC’s lies and bias. Constantly the BBC makes attacks on those decent people and truthful ideas it wants to denounce with no reason other than it wants to make people hate those with decent morals and different ideas from the evil parasites who are behind the political actions of the world.
But this article is the perfect summation of that dreadful, unethical organisation to which we are forced to give money and who still influence the minds and beliefs of too many unthinking people across the world.”

2023 … The resolution gained support from many countries because it was carefully crafted to avoid blaming the countries like the US and China that have contributed most to the warming gases that are driving up temperatures.

Experts say that while the ICJ’s legal view would be non-binding, it could then be cited in climate court cases around the world.

    Beijing (China) has proven itself rather shrewd (Dishonest? Liars? Frauds?). At home it has been steadily reducing its reliance on coal (meeting it’s international obligations!), replacing it with renewable energy. Yet all the while — it (China) has been happy to invest in dirty energy abroad (so China does not care about the environment?), with profits returning to boost the domestic sector {dailytimes aug2017}

    Until recently, only developed countries were obligated or encouraged to provide climate finance for developing countries. But several countries classified by the UNFCCC as developing — such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia — have the financial capacity to contribute. {thinkprogress.org dec2015}

    The world’s deadliest pollution does not come from factories billowing smoke, industries tainting water supplies or chemicals seeping into farm land. It comes from within people’s own homes. Smoke from domestic fires kills nearly two million people each year and sickens millions more, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). … Africa and Asia, indoor smoke from cooking has become the sixth biggest killer. Globally, it kills more people than malaria, and nearly as many as Aids – and far more insidiously than either.{independent jan2011}

Thank you for speaking out. I’m a 81 old granny. Unvacinated I have had covid twice and survived. Right from the start of all this scaremongering I decided that I’m not going to be scared to death. Instead I shall die the natural way. Old age and all that may come with it. Fear is our worst enemy.

Conspiracy theory or a head up ?

Operation Sandman will “put the US Dollar to sleep” by having all 142 countries repudiate the currency on the same day, and refuse to continue accepting it for payment in Trade. Countries around the world began planning this when they witnessed the then-Democrat-Controlled US Congress, go on a spending spree of several TRILLION Dollars in Omnibus Bills. Those countries realized there is nothing backing the value of US Dollars and they saw that the US Congress has no plans at all to reign-in spending.”

You can insulate yourselves by buying Gold, which is unlikely to lose its value, can be exchanged the world over and saw a 35% increase in value last year alone.

How many other investments have done that?

The infamous BBC interview with Musk has already been covered here, but it’s always a pleasure to watch Douglas Murray (and Sky News Aus) put the boot in.
The BBC bit is in the second half. The first half, about our woke King and reparations, is also worth watching.
