You may have noted Burnham use the same comparison in PMQs yesterday as he claimed the Tories only spent 2.3%.
The problem with that is that the NATO spending requirement was 2%…we were in fact above that….but both the BBC and Burnham forgot to mention that critical fact. Odd huh? Bit odd that the BBC and Labour employ the very same rhetorical tricks, almost as if they coordinate.

What’s the current ‘end of life on Earth’ thing we all have to worry about.
We’ve somehow got through all the others like acid rain, ozone layer, Covid, melting polar ice caps, global warming/cooling/climate change and whatever it is they are pushing this month.
I saw on tv they are saying AI can kill all human life so is that the latest end of life scenario they are using to scare us.
It was much better in the 50’s and 60’s when the end of life scares were things like invaders from Mars or maybe zombies.
Much more interesting than now.
In the 1950’s and 60’s there was the possibility of obliteration by nuclear weapons.
At least the threat was real.

For decades to come, the Clock’s hands move based upon whether events push humanity closer to or further from nuclear apocalypse. The Clock later includes dangers posed by climate change and other existential threats.

In October 1952, the United States tests its first thermonuclear device, obliterating a Pacific Ocean islet in the process. Nine months later, the Soviets test an H-bomb of their own. “The hands of the Clock of Doom have moved again, ” the Bulletin announces. “Only a few more swings of the pendulum, and, from Moscow to Chicago, atomic explosions will strike midnight for Western civilization.”

THE £1 MILLION LEGAL BLACK HOLE
Between 2013 and 2025, Channel 4 fought a single defamation case brought by Ryanair. Twelve years of litigation. Legal bills that sources suggest reached seven figures. And in February 2025? They settled on undisclosed terms.
What were they hiding? What was so damaging they couldn’t let a jury see it?
Channel 4 refused to answer our questions.
THE £100,000 POLICE PAYOUT
In 2008, Channel 4 received a six-figure settlement from West Midlands Police after officers falsely accused Dispatches of deceptive editing.
But here’s what they don’t tell you: the police only made those accusations because Channel 4’s editing was so aggressive it LOOKED like manipulation. Even when it wasn’t.
The line between journalism and fabrication? They walk it daily.
THE 7,300 COMPLAINTS THEY DISMISSED
When Dispatches aired “The Truth About Traveller Crime” in 2020, over 7,300 people complained to Ofcom. The Traveller Movement documented a spike in hate crimes after broadcast. Including calls for mass sterilization of a protected minority.
Channel 4’s response? “We stand by our journalism.”
Even when that journalism fuels real-world harm.
THE DISABILITY “ATROCITY”
Their 2024 documentary “Britain’s Benefits Scandal” was called an “atrocity” and “insult to millions of disabled people” by Disability Rights UK. 68 complaints to Ofcom. “Inaccuracies and misleading statements” alleged.
Channel 4’s defense: silence.
THE 14-YEAR COVER-UP
In 2009, a woman complained to Channel 4 about Russell Brand. They did nothing. For 14 years, they sat on it. Until a joint investigation with The Times forced their hand.
Their own report admitted failure. Their own report admitted they could have acted.
They chose not to.
