    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/conservative/9595589/David-Cameron-when-a-burglar-invades-your-home-they-give-up-their-rights.html

Mr Grayling said: “The basic premise of the change is to get the law to a position where if you are in your home, and you are confronted by an intruder… then if, in the heat of the moment you use a level of force that in the cold light of day might seem disproportionate, the law will be on your side.”

Mr Cameron said that he was more interested in defending the “rights” of homeowners rather than burglars.

“We’re saying ‘you can do anything as long as it’s not grossly disproportionate,” he said. “You couldn’t, for instance, stab a burglar if they were already unconscious, but really we should be putting the law firmly on the side of the homeowner, the householder, the family, and saying ‘when that burglar crosses your threshold, invades your home, threatens your family, they give up their rights’.

“And I’m more interested in the rights of the people who want to defend their homes and their properties.”

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-43639183

So what happened here and has the law been changed again because the BBC report appears to suggest that it’s back to the tired old reasonable force backed up by the CPS

    https://www.gov.uk/reasonable-force-against-intruders

This old guy was 78 for heavens sake and there’s no way he should be arrested save for a debriefing and his own safety from reprisal attacks from the scroats family and friends.

“My view is that someone who defends themselves against an intruder should be interviewed as a witness not as a potential offender.”

Clearly this is not the view of the disastrous Communist Theresa the Appeaser unless of course the suicide of the would be burglar happens to be an effnik.

He should not have been arrested. The message it send out is dreadful.
On the subject of the London murders there seems to be an attempt to play them down by the BBC and the media generally except for the hated Daily Mail .
A good article by David Blunkett who points out that the rule of law is disintegrating and that the consequences will be far worse than terrorism .
Useless May and the equally useless Home Secretary need to deal with this now.
The choice is simple. Enforce the rule of law without qualification or fail to do this .
London is dying as we watch. I will never take my grandchildren there and this is very sad. It is just not worth the risk however small.

The two scumbags he shot were not “running away”, they were actually in his house. They certainly scarpered off after he shot them, but one of them then died. He did not lay an ambush, but he slept with his shotgun by his bed because he had been burgled several times, and knew that it would take the police an age to come to his isolated farmhouse. He had to rely on himself.

He ended up killing one career burglar, and crippling another. In so doing, he must have prevented hundreds if not thousands of crimes which this pair of swines would have committed over the next few years. He may well have saved an innocent victim’s life. In my eyes, he did no wrong.

Guest Who, I agree with you. If a thief chooses to invade your home then under the law the intruder should forfeit they’re right to protection.
Disproportionate force is particular to interpretation so on this basis I would claim that I felt my life, and that of my family, were in imminent danger. I would state that the intruder threatened to kill me. Furthermore, in order to make my case I would go as far as to plant a kitchen knife in the palm of the intruder, making sure that it wasn’t the one from an identical set of six residing next to the toaster.
So, as it stands, in order to justify your right to protect your family you will be forced to fabricate a story that is breaking the law for you to stand within the law.
If it wasn’t so serious it would be laughable. Oh, and I sincerely hope that you never ever find yourself in just such a predicament.

The BBC and Corbyn betraying Britain once again, undermining the Foreign Secretary, the British narrative and the Western unified response to Russia’s actions.

Did the Foriegn Office tweet out a lie? Did Boris lie about knowing the source of the nerve agent? Corbyn is claiming it’s all lies and the BBC is doing little to disprove his reckless, sensationalist and politicised opportunistic untruths. Nice to know Corbyn sides with Russian gangsters rather than his own country.

So what did the FCO tweet say? The BBC reports what the Russians tell us it said…not actually giving us the real tweet…unbelievable but true…the BBC peddling Russian misinformation….

On Twitter, the Russian Embassy highlighted a now-deleted tweet by the UK Foreign Office which suggested Porton Down had said the nerve agent had been produced in Russia.

22 March: “Porton Down lab @dstlmod clearly established that the source of Salisbury toxic agent was Russia”
3 April: “ @dstlmod never had the task to establish the source of the toxic agent” pic.twitter.com/rVyJsbNJiG
    — Russian Embassy, UK (@RussianEmbassy) April 4, 2018

Why does the BBC not link to the FCO tweet and the actual breifing by the FCO from which the tweet originated…always suspicious when the BBC doesn’t link to things…what is it hiding?

    Here’s the actual tweet…

    fco

The deleted tweet read: “Analysis by world-leading experts at the Defence Science and Technology laboratory at Porton Down made clear that this was a military grade nerve agent produced in Russia.”

….which means ‘nerve agent of a type that was developed and produced by Russia’.

And here’s what the British Ambassador to Russia said…
‘Four days later the analysts at Porton Down, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory in the UK, established and made clear that this was a military-grade chemical weapon. One of the Novichok series; a nerve agent as I said produced in Russia. ‘

The tweet was in fact accurate…it lacked the full context of the briefing and thus was able to be wilfully misconstrued by people who want to mislead the public into thinking Russia is not involved.

The Ambassador states that using other intelligence they have established that ‘We have no information to indicate that this agent could have been produced anywhere else except in Russia. So we have no doubt that the nerve agent was produced in Russia.’

It is quite clear that the British government, using numerous sources of intelligence not just Porton Down, firmly believe Russia is the only plausible source and user of this nerve agent.
Which brings us onto Boris and his interview with German TV in which Corbyn and the BBC claim he lied….Again the BBC don’t link to the interview and don’t give the full question which is this…

Int: ‘You argue that the source of this nerve agent, Novichok, is Russia. How did you manage to find it out so quickly? Does Britain possess samples of it?

Boris: Let me be clear with you … When I look at the evidence, I mean the people from Porton Down, the laboratory …

Int: So they have the samples …

Boris: They do. And they were absolutely categorical and I asked the guy myself, I said, “Are you sure?” And he said there’s no doubt.’

The question is in fact three questions with a fourth thrown in half way through the answer…Boris is not answering a question about who made the actual nerve agent used i the attack as confusion reigns in the interview, it should be apparent Boris is merely saying that Porton Down have identified the nerve agent and that it is one that has been created by Russia. Indeed this is what the FCO have explained…an explanation the BBC haven’t bothered to report…

“The Foreign Secretary was making clear that Porton Down were sure it was a Novichok – a point they have reinforced. He goes on in the same interview to make clear why based on that information, additional intelligence and the lack of alternative explanation from the Russians, we have reached the conclusion we have.

“What the Foreign Secretary said then, and what Porton Down have said recently, is fully consistent with what we have said throughout. It is Russia that is putting forward multiple versions of events and obfuscating the truth.”

Here is the Amabassador’s briefing in full which describes why the government concludes Russia is responsible for the attack..the evidence that so many government’s around the world are convinced by….just not the BBC….

Thank you very much for coming along to attend today’s briefing.

And, like I think many people in this room, we were all represented, I hope, at yesterday’s briefing in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Skripal incident. I was not there. That was a decision on our side that it would not be appropriate for me to attend. I do though know from the member of my team who did attend what sort of event it was; including a rather unpleasant barrage in some cases of personal insults and disinformation.

What we would like to do, what I would like to do today, is to set out some of the facts as we see them and to answer any questions or comments that you might wish to make.

So to start with the facts. There was an attempted murder in Salisbury a couple of weeks ago of 2 individuals, Sergei and Yulia Skripal, using a nerve agent of a type that we know was developed in the Soviet Union, kept by the Russian Federation, and not declared under the Chemical Weapons Convention as the Russian Federation was obliged to do.

We asked for an explanation of the Russian Federation as to how this had come about. That explanation was not given and then events took their course. We announced a number of measures that we would take including the expulsion of 23 undeclared intelligence officers from the United Kingdom working in the Russian embassy, and as you know 23 of my staff will be leaving this embassy later this week as required by the Russian Federation.

So I’ll set out a timeline of events and then say a bit about why we think the evidence points towards Russian involvement in this attack and also about what the UK is doing in a bit more detail.

So first the timeline. On the 4th of March Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were found on a park bench in Salisbury, they were slipping out of consciousness. They were taken to a hospital by our emergency services. They are still in hospital. They remain in a very very serious condition.

When we established that a nerve agent had been used we immediately informed the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) that chemical weapons had been used in the United Kingdom.

Four days later the analysts at Porton Down, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory in the UK, established and made clear that this was a military-grade chemical weapon. One of the Novichok series; a nerve agent as I said produced in Russia. Porton Down is an Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons accredited and designated laboratory.

On the basis of the information we had, we concluded that there were only 2 plausible explanations for how this material had been used in the United Kingdom. Either it was a direct act by the Russian state against our country or the Russian government had lost control of this catastrophically damaging nerve agent and allowed it to get into the hands of others.

We summoned the Russian ambassador to account for the use of a Russian military-grade nerve agent on the 12 of March, giving Russia until the end of the following day to provide an account of what had happened. There was then no credible explanation or response from the Russian government. So our Prime Minister set out the UK’s response. On the 18th of March Russia announced its retaliation.

I’ll now set out why we’ve concluded that it is highly likely that Russia was responsible for the attempted murder of Sergei and Yulia Skripal.
First, there is no doubt that the weapon used in the attack was the military-grade nerve agent from the Novichok series. This has been confirmed by specialists, our specialists. An Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons mission is in the UK now to independently confirm this analysis.

There is also no doubt that Novichok was produced in Russia by the Russian state. It is not a weapon that can be manufactured by non-state actors. It is so dangerous it requires the highest grade state laboratories and expertise to produce it.

The existence of the Novichok programme has been confirmed by a number of scientists who worked on the programme of the time. The Russian scientist Vil Mirzayanov has testified that Novichoks were developed as part of the Soviet Union’s offensive chemical warfare programme and inherited by the Russian Federation. Vladimir Gutenev, a Duma member and member of Russia’s Commission for Chemical Disarmament has confirmed that the Novichok programme existed. Yesterday, Vladimir Uglev, a scientist who worked on the programme in the 1970s and 1980s, confirmed that the Soviet Union developed hundreds of new generation Novichok-group nerve agents.

We also have other information that supports that conclusion. The Foreign Secretary made clear on Sunday, last Sunday, that we have information indicating that within the last decade Russia has investigated ways of delivering nerve agents likely for assassination purposes. Part of this programme has involved producing quantities of Novichok agents.

Russia’s claims that Novichok could have been produced elsewhere have no credibility. We have no information to indicate that this agent could have been produced anywhere else except in Russia. So we have no doubt that the nerve agent was produced in Russia.

With that in mind we asked the Russian government to explain how it came to be used in the UK. As I said, Russia offered no explanation and yesterday’s briefing demonstrated Russia has instead offered disinformation, distraction and accusations. We have, as of yesterday, counted over 30 lines of disinformation which go back to the Russian state – which include the possibility that the United Kingdom did it, Ukraine was responsible, the materials were made in Sweden, or that it was Skripal’s mother-in-law who attempted to kill him.

Russia has therefore offered no explanation of how this agent came to be used in the UK, and has offered no explanation either as to why Russia has an undeclared chemical weapons programme in contravention of international law.

I should just remind you that under the Chemical Weapons Convention all signatories to the Convention are required to declare all capabilities that go back to 1946. Russia is the successor state of the Soviet Union and therefore is obliged to declare that capability. It has not done so.

We also know that an assassination attempt of this kind is consistent with Russian state behaviour in recent years. Russia has a record of conducting state-sponsored assassinations in Russia and overseas, including in 2006 the assassination of Litvinenko using the radioactive substance Polonium-210. We also know from public statements by Russian officials that Russia views defectors as legitimate targets for assassination.

So the fact that the Novichok was produced in Russia, the fact that Russia has a history of state-sponsored assassinations, and the fact that Russia has responded with the usual playbook of disinformation and denial left us with no choice but to conclude that this amounts to an unlawful use of force by the Russian state against the United Kingdom.

This is the first offensive use of a nerve agent in Europe since the Second World War and is a violation of the fundamental prohibition on the use of chemical weapons – Article 1 of the Chemical Weapons Convention. Since the attack Russia has attempted to undermine the UK’s position, accusing us of not following the OPCW conventions and refusing to provide any evidence. These accusations are designed to confuse and to weaken our resolve and that of the international community.

All of the UK’s actions have been fully consistent with our obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. There is for example no provision in the Chemical Weapons Convention that requires the UK to share samples with Russia of the agent that was used in Salisbury. Russia’s history in other spheres, in particular for us the Litvinenko case, makes it entirely clear that we have no reason to work with or to trust the Russian state to provide credible or independent analysis on issues where its interests might be affected.

As I said earlier we are facilitating independent analysis of the material used in Salisbury. An OPCW team arrived at our request in the United Kingdom on the 19 of March. They are meeting officials from the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory at Porton Down and the police to discuss how to collect samples. These samples will then be sent to 2 highly reputable international laboratories selected by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons for testing, and we expect to see the results in the next couple of weeks.

At the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday Russia said it would not respect the conclusions of that independent OPCW analysis. Russia has also claimed that the UK has not followed its legal obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention, especially Article 9. This is simply not true. The Chemical Weapons Convention makes clear that the UK has the right to lead our own response, engaging the OPCW and others as appropriate. The 10-day window for consultations Russia refers to is a right, our right, not an obligation. Article 9 contains nothing prohibiting states from seeking a rapid response to their immediate and urgent concerns from another state party, which is exactly what we did on the 12 of March when we asked Russia to account for what had happened.

Novichok is a horrific weapon. It is a weapon of war. It was used with tragic consequences for Sergei Skripal and his daughter. It also affected a policeman, Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey, who was one of the first to respond to the incident, and it affected a large number of UK citizens. 51 people have been assessed or treated in hospital. 131 civilians have been put in potential contact with this nerve agent.

The events on the next slide I think need no explanation. They are about a pattern of behaviour specifically on chemical weapons. Russia has blocked action against President Asad’s use of chemical weapons in Syria, including multiple vetoes of Security Council resolutions designed to bring that use to account – following particularly the attack using sarin gas on Khan Sheikhoun in 2017. This undermines the international non-proliferation regime on which all countries, including Russia, depend for their security.

I’ll say a few words now about the UK response. As you know we have expelled a number of Russian diplomats. There has been a Russian response.

The underlying point though here is that we were compelled to move to protect our national security in this case. We have dismantled the network of Russian undeclared intelligence operatives working out of the diplomatic mission in the UK. We have enhanced border controls and we are tackling criminality and corruption by individuals linked to the Russian state in the UK. We of course have further options if we need them. But our chief aim as I said is to protect our national security.

Finally, before I throw the floor open to questions I’d like to thank all of our partners for the solidarity in recent weeks. Russia’s modus operandi here is to divide, confuse and sow the seeds of doubt. Your support in the coming months in taking action to protect everybody’s security, the global security regime, will be essential to demonstrate that Russia must be held to account for what has happened here.

As my Prime Minister made very clear in Parliament last week, this is a dispute between governments, not between the peoples of our countries. A very large part of what my embassy is here to do and will continue doing is to develop mutually beneficial relations with Russia in all the areas that have been so successful over the last 25 years. Trade, education, people-to-people links, science and technology links. That remains as important today as we go forward as it has ever been. Thank you.

If the killing rate remains the same in the run up to the local elections it may well overshadow the view of brexit which will suit neither side.

    http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-43640475

It obviously cannot be said; these are the deaths that dare not speak their name and the pretence can go on, and the root causes can continue to be ignored, aided and abetted by the BBC and the media in general. It’s blindingly obvious, but the Emperor’s New Clothes Syndrome is pervasive.

Keith – Maybe we are all (and especially the BBC) being a little too alarmist about these stabbings.
Since rape and misogyny in some cultures has been defended by some enlightened liberals as just “cultural relativism” why cant stabbing be the same?
I mean the cockneys have their knees ups
the Welsh have rugby and leek breeding
The Corns have their pasties and cream teas

Surely these things are all just facets of the same multifaceted gemstone?

So why are we being so judgmental of other diverse and vibrant groups if they want to express their culture and values. I thought diversity and expression of culture (except Western culture and Christianity of course) was what the liberals and the BBC wanted?

Maybe Stormzy should write a rap on it so we can all understand this phenomenon better.

He and his type have been undermining policing for years and then the Conservative s shame on them joined in . Lack of street control is the main reason for this crime wave so it ain’t going away any time soon .
On the upside at least toady has woken up to this . I go on about it because I live in the bit of London where much of this is going on . I’ve gone out twice recently and been met by police tape . God bless multiculturalism

Two more people killed in London

      London killings

A man in his early 20s has died after being stabbed in east London. Police were approached by the wounded victim in Link Street, Hackney, and tried to give him first aid, but he died at the scene 25 minutes later. And in Upper Clapton Road, less than two miles away, a man in his 50s was pronounced dead following reports of an assault.

The deaths – which follow the shootings of 16-year-old Amaan Shakoor 17-year-old Tanesha Melbourne earlier this week – bring the number of killings in London this year to 50.“

‘London’ seems to be killing a lot.

Yes, I also roll my eyes when people say “these stabbings and killings happen because the kids have nothing to do”.

So not only does the state (i.e. us the taxpayer) have to cover the medical costs for you having a child, then contribute financially with child benefit and then educate it, it is also now our responsibility to keep it entertained with youth clubs that they’ll only use to sell drugs in.

Maybe the actual parents could make an effort to keep their children entertained, detained or safe and secure.

BBC fact #1 “it’s important to point out New York had twice the murders last year” whilst ignoring the fact London had 130 murders for 2017 and is already up to 50 for barely 3 months.

BBC fact #2 “what about gang violence? you will see that teenagers make up less than a quarter” so that’s alright then if we assume all gangs are aged 13 to 19 only – ffs!

BBC fact #3 “it is thought many of the murders are domestic violence”. Who ‘thought’ this exactly? Surely it can be proved easily and what does ‘many’ actually mean?

And there we have it. Nothing to worry about. There is no pattern in the killings whatsoever – just like the terror attacks, nothing links them together whatsoever.

For about half a minute, and in a state of high excitement, the announcer tried to say,”Ladies and Gentlemen.”

Why can’t The Mash Report or some other ‘comedy’ mock Khan? They mocked Boris Johnson and surely we want equality? As bodies piled up in London he was in the US talking about mean Tweets. Yesterday he tweeted the most saccharine video about needing kids alive, along with a muscular tweet. The man is ridiculous.

You can bet they would never even lay a glove on him. So much for ‘white privilege’ – the threat of an accusation of ‘racism’ or ‘sexism’ is effectively a forcefield for certain groups. Whereas great comedy in the past like That Was The Week That Was mocked the establishment, the liberal elite epitomised by the Beeb IS the establishment.

Could they at least get comedy genius Nish Kumar to say something? I bet Khan would take any criticism extremely badly and take refuge in victim status.

The immune system of the media, law enforcement etc have turned against us. Instead of holding the wrongdoers to account they persecute anyone who points out there are problems.

Camille Paglia, a rather thoughtful feminist, hit the nail on the head many years ago: “There is no female Mozart because there is no female Jack the Ripper.” Her point being that men are more subject to extremes in many traits, such as intelligence, happiness, deviant/criminal behaviour and so on. Needless to say, such views are not popular with modern faux-feminists and their profound interest in their own middle-class obsessions, inadequacies, hang-ups and greed the plight of ordinary women.

Yesterday, on TWatO, the BBC got in a very funny muddle between the Western Balkans (down on the Mediterranean) and the Eastern Balkans (near to or bordering Russia) in their desperate desire to overturn Brexit and demonstrate that they are pro-EU.

Having a reasonable knowledge of the layout of Europe, I couldn’t believe my ears at the time. A glance at a map this morning has confirmed the BBC’s incorrect (upside down!) view of the geography of Europe.

Everything the BBC is doing at present is making them appear increasingly deficient. Is their TV output as bad as that of Radio4? If so, they are definitely NOT worth the Licence Fee.

Is it really true that the BBC is pushing certain leftest agendas in lieu of giving us the news in a balanced moderate form?

I’m quietly pondering this vexed question over breakfast as perky BBC presenter Naga Munchetty reporting on the anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King Jnr suddenly barks out “…was assinated by a White Supremacist!”

Woooah, that’s a rather unusually categorical editorial statement there. I’ll bet that didn’t get into the carefully considered BBC news script without being measured against some sort of new style agenda?

Some might feel that sounded a tad agressively anti-white. Does it not tend to tar all white people with the same evil brush? What if I feel it was a bit hateful and I took offence? Couldn’t the term ‘racial supremacist’ have served equally well? Why the perjorative use of the word ‘white’?

How come the supposedly neutral BBC world view is suddenly so starkly black and white?

It’s over the road from the Lorraine Motel and actually has an exhibit outlining the various conspiracies and unanswered questions surrounding the shooting. I was lucky enough to listen in on a school teacher who was telling his class that the official story has enough contradictions to be nonsense although he (an African American gentleman in his 50s or so) didn’t have a strong idea what truly happened and that they should educate themselves and do their own research. As they got to the end and prepared to reboard their busses I walked up and thanked him for teaching his kids to think for themselves and know to question what people say.

I did like the little bit by the Swedish professor statistician this morning, wondering why all ‘refugees’ could not simply have got on planes to come to Europe? Or ferries? Cheap, compared to human smuggler prices. Safe.
Answer: Those nasty Europeans legislated that people had to have documentation, when boarding a plane. The Professor spoke of ‘refugees’ one minute and ‘Syrian refugees’ the next. Wow. Inaccurate for a statistician or did the Corporation blur the issue?
