CARBON KLEPTOCRACY

For a truly mind-blowing analysis of how the new carbon dioxide-trading kleptocracy operates – and how it destroyed Redcar steel works with the full connivance of our own government – read this piece on EU Referendum (a distillation of Christopher Booker’s column in the Sunday Telegraph). Chances of the full sorry tale being reported by the legions of intrepid BBC staff in Copenhagen? Absolute zero. The Redcar closure story is still being reported without mention of the carbon trading dimension, despite Booker first mentioning it last week. And meanwhile, the BBC focus is on making the thuggish “protestors” in Copenhagen look like world-saving heroes.

Graphic example of bias

On Monday December 7, BBC1’s News at Ten adopted an interesting use of scale to illustrate claims about greenhouse gas emissions made by Lord Stern’s Grantham Research Institute:

As you can see the entire 2009 column fits easily into the gap between the GRI’s projected and hoped for target for 2020, giving a misleading, exaggerated impression. (The screengrab comes from this week’s Newswatch.)

Update 19.35. In the comments Asuka notes the use of danger-sign red for the word “Carbon”. And of course, green equals good.

By Their Friends Ye Shall (Not) Know Them

Every time that the Conservatives are mentioned in regards to the European Parliament, for example, BBC reporters dust off the Labour briefing sheet about their political allies despite those slurs having been extensively debunked elsewhere. So you’d think that, for the sake of balance, when a party allied to Labour from EU aspirant Turkey is banned for consorting with terrorists, that might mention a small paragraph towards the end of the BBC article?

Deputies from Turkey’s main Kurdish party have said today they will quit their parliament after the group was banned by the Constitutional Court. The court voted on Friday to disband the Democratic Society Party (DTP), finding it guilty of cooperating with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) separatist guerrillas.

It’s so strange that there isn’t a single mention in the BBC article that these are Labour’s Turkish buddies. If it’d been any of the Tories’ mates banned for consorting with terrorists it would have been a very different story.

MAKING PENSIONERS SUFFER…

While nutter “flat-earth” Brown promises to blow £1.5bn of our money towards “climate change” (see below), and the BBC continues to push greenie protests as if they were important, the real consequences of all this lunacy are coming home to roost. With cheese-paring savagery and utter cynicism, Chancellor Alastair Darling is preparing to rob £350m from pensioners – already struggling because they can’t afford bills pushed up by “green” energy policies. So the government is prepared to burn billions on ludicrous measures that will never work and in any case aren’t needed. To find the money, it makes the most vulnerable suffer. The BBC, of course, doesn’t give a stuff about this vicious cowardice, and doesn’t deign to report the undoubted connection between the two.

Brown’s Latest Promise

Just listened to the coverage on Radio 4’s PM and 6pm news programmes about Brown’s £1.5b climate change splurge. Plenty of criticism was broadcast, but only from those who think that even more of our money should be given away to enrich third world kleptocrats and keep an endless supply of useless bureaucrats in employment. The pathetic Tory “opposition” obviously can’t be relied upon to voice the concerns of millions of taxpayers where this climate change moneygrab is concerned, but did the BBC even try to find an opposing opinion? And why was there was no analysis on where the money is coming from or how many times Brown has already promised this same slice of dosh?

Update 18.45. I wrote the “pathetic Tory ‘opposition'” line before reading the actual response from Greg Clark MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. It’s even more pathetic than I feared (via Tim Montgomerie):

“It is important to have agreed that adaptation funding is necessary, but it is vital that participants at Copenhagen now agree on an international financial mechanism that can dependably result in the necessary flow of funds.”

Matt Frei – Sneering Pompous Arse

Leftie bigot Matt Frei’s contempt for Middle America is on full display in his latest shamelessly biased diary article in which he argues that the way to get those dumb rednecks to accept without question the new cult of MMGW is to target them through their current religion. The Telegraph’s Damian Thompson has already blogged a response which is well worth reading, although he put his views more succinctly on Twitter, offering this advice to Americans:

Wise words, I think you’ll agree.

Question Time 10th December

Welcome to the Biased-BBC Question Time live-chat. Tonight on the panel in Wootton Bassett are former head of the British Army General Sir Richard Dannatt, Shadow Foreign Secretary William Hague, former News of the Screws editor Piers Morgan, Armed Forces Minister Bill Rammell and Salma Yaqoob, the leader of Respect.

We’ll be starting at 10:30pm and carrying on through until the end of This Week. Enjoy!

CRUMBS FROM THE TABLE

Richard Black, reporting self-indulgently and with puffed-up arrogance about his earth-saving role at Copenhagen, notes:

Most of the real deals are done behind closed doors guarded by security guys with stern faces and impressive pectorals. That’s where the important countries and blocs reveal more of their real demands, where trades are bartered between national delegations. Reporting it is a nightmare.

So that’s how the new world government that Richard wants to much will operate? Thugs barring entry to lesser mortals while the “important” shadowy blocs impose their lunatic will on the rest of us? Yet our intrepid Richard seems only to be breathless with admiration, and proudly tells us how he procures the crumbs from their dictatorial tables. And meanwhile, he and the rest of his 35 cronies at Copenhagen continue to spew out their lying propaganda.

Biasville

Coming up on Monday, the next film to be screened as part of BBC 4’s Storyville documentary slot is “Age of Stupid“, climate catastrophe porn for the green cultists. Even the Observer’s Philip French called the film “a hectoring lecture”, which makes it perfectly in keeping with the rest of the BBC’s Copenhagen-related coverage.

And don’t forget, still to come on Storyville – “By the People”, described by the Washington Post’s Hank Steuver as “a stultifyingly naive, please-drink-a-little-more-Kool-Aid paean to the historical highlights of President Obama’s campaign and election…a very long commercial for Obama.”

Update 3pm. Today’s Afternoon Play on Radio 4 (h/t to John Anderson in the comments):

Getting to Four Degrees
What if we can’t limit global warming to two degrees? What if it reaches four degrees – or more? Three real-life climate change experts spin one average family into the future, to look at life on a warmer planet.
With Professor Kevin Anderson, Mark Lynas and Dr Emma Tompkins.

Bit of festive poetry for you:

“I bought a magic goose from a jolly farmer.
This goose laid Barack Obama.”
